Adrift

A ghost ship
Adrift in deep space

Harboring ghosts
Of the crew
As cargo

When the captain left
On an escape shuttle

Leaving them all to perish

Upheaval – Journal 8/15/17

Sunday came and went, the day for Mount Si. And I took three friends of mine up the switchbacks. It only took us 2 hours and 48 minutes for one of the people in our party developed severe leg pain and call it off. Not wanting to leave a man behind on the trail, we all turned around 700 feet from the summit.

Just as well. The one day this entire summer it wants to rain is August 13th.

I picked up everybody after waking at 6, overpacked and overprepared with maps and such, and we were in North...

Appreciation

It’s the chorus of forest
Rising before us

In beat to electric birds
Cawing overhead

That makes us stop
And listen

To appreciate the choir
And keys played by gulls

Lost at the Spaceport

I don’t know
These languages
But I still haggle
My way through
The space station

At the edge
Of the universe

I need food and fuel
So I scrape together
What I can

Hearing stories
Of treasure and adventure

Fuck that

I’ll take
What I can

I just want to be
Not so desperate

To the point of taking
Odd jobs

I’m not a cowboy
But I’ll beebop
My ass to Mars and back
If it means I get some cash

I’m lost at the spaceport
And there’s this stupid robot
Trying to talk to me

Trying to get me to
Buy all kinds...

Master Sword

It’s the myth
In the temple of time
That let you go forward
With a surge and a shine

It’s a pop culture icon
It’s a staple of swords

In your Hyrule there was just
One blade you felt
Was what you needed

Not going alone
Rather you’d take the burden

Of a double edge
Sharp as can be
Can split through diamonds
And rend carelessly

So it wasn’t a gift or inheritance
That fell into your hands
It was a curse to wield a power
That could kill fellow man

Runes of Bone

Ripples in street puddles
Are the footsteps
Of rain

They’re the delicate swarm
So fragile
To be broken and smashed
As soon as they touch
Ground

So many glass femurs
Frozen for so long
In the sky

Bellowed by
Whales

Until they leave their legacy
With the tracks of
Their journey down

Tales and destinies left
In the hands of the superstitious
Who carved their designs

Quest for the Torino

We broke down
At the airport
In front of the
No waiting zone

An engine block
Overheated
As a mechanic
Waved to see me

Then the engine wouldn’t start
And he rolled out his tool belt
In the backseat and we worked
On it for half an hour

Opening the overflow
And looking at the radiator
We opened up to take a look
And antifreeze boiled out

We limped into Renton
To find a gas station
All the while
Smelling the bone dry metal

In the ghetto we found
What we needed
An air and water machine
To fill up...

As one state burns, so does another. Systems upon systems built upon haze.

Protest Protest

Oh sign spinners
Oh extremists
It’s a good thing
The rest of us are decent

What it takes to practice restraint
At the temptation of my expression
Of my free speech

With dildos and amplifiers

With everything your
Anti-humanity religion
Preaches
