Cutis Anserina

Existential starlight
As the night
Bows in twilight

Soot of a black air
Is slowly swept away

Through the
Snoqualmie Pass

Over Teneriffe’s teeth
And North Bend valley peaks

Embers of Sol
Burn Ellensberg’s soul

As the visible spectrum
Scorches the grass

Into Yakima Valley
This twisting path

And the sun rises
Wiping the cold

Cool darkness
From your skin

As purple becomes pink
Hot reds melt nightish blues

And the warmth rises
Like wings to tomorrow

Day has been broken

Threadframes

Whenever a footprint
Must be rewound

I find I lack a will
To look around

Photos take me back
In time all at once

Sounds of my souls
Echo like a movie

I lean back in my seat
As memories set scene

Set sail
And turn me pale

With grief for all the
Dead memories buried

For all the angsty
Fucked up metaphors

I’ve seen connect
In the film strips

How many more yarns
Of possible pathways

Must yet be cut
Still

What questions
Never answer

Closure never closed
Threads of a frame

To be
Stripped out

No Expectations

Poison colored
Locks of ivy
Flowering with
Green pigment
So bright
And neon
And lovely

A nude
Unprotected
Trusting
Beauty

Cloaked in a
Cloak invisible
To sting
With venom

If needed

Long strands of
Toxic green
Wasting decaying
Threads

Thick and luminous
Split ends
Like needles
Hypodermic

Stark and gorgeous
When unwrapped

Yet lethal
To the touch

With
No expectations

Illusion

I can’t be sure
How much was real
As the magician with the knives
Has spun the wheel

A circus sideshow
A trickster paid
In disguise to fool guys
Just like me

Or was it genuine
Not a foundation of lies
That still has this rule
Over trust and doom

I want you to
Rewrite my history
Scratch out all the unfamiliar
Faces, replace them with you

I want every memory
Every song
Every sweet sentiment
To be overwrit

I want my life to be
An illusion
Granted a second chance
By you the magician

To make it al...

Blackgull Morning

Shot with a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XS; f/13; 1/250; ISO-200; 45mm

Mornings that are clear and crisp. The air is brisk and the frost has honed tips.

The Traveler – Journal 9/13/17

Where would you go if you could go anyplace in the world? Save up for a while and jump to it? I was asked this question yesterday and could come up with a number of answers, while the person I asked back had only one or two off the top of their head.

Where would you go?

I’ve never been off the west coast of America, still. I’ve lived in southern California and western Washington. Visited Nevada, Arizona, and been through Oregon. I told the person who asked me that I would love to see New Zeal...

Visage

Behind the lenses
Are eyes that are patient

They observe and have
The nerve for waiting
To see what might be
Made of the blank slate

Reflective glasses

Mirroring the observed
Back to themselves
As they wonder what thoughts
Lie behind the opaque mask

What ideas lurk
And what poison
Must perk
A mask to shift

Quiet and cold
Incalculable
Beyond those
Mirrored nerves

Brave

I wish to be so brave
As the invisible crowds
That walk these avenues

With their own cultures
And protests manifest
As this concrete jungle

To wander and be a part
A tiny piece of an
Enormous machine

And be happy with that
As the steps pile up
And we walkers press on

To be so brave
As to spend hours
In a Barnes And Noble

To go to Pike’s Place
And to go to Starbucks
Three times

I wish to be so brave
As to spectate and
Photograph these things

Like the waves of tourists
That add to this
Vicious...

Falling Stocks – Journal 9/10/17

Friday night, you could have seen me at the Crocodile in Seattle watching the group Cigarettes After Sex do their thing on stage. Tonight would have been me at Showbox SoDo watching Xilent, but alas, I was scheduled to work today when I had put in for it.

Ah, well, I’ll get it next time.

I’m writing all about Friday night and also ruminating on the tuition payment I’m going into my college for tomorrow. What’s more money thrown at classes I’ll never use in life ever again?

My parents raised m...
