Calcified Fragments

Calcified in bed
Like skeletons
On an old shipwreck

When I wake up
At three in the morning
Holding you tight

Your TV is blankly on
Window is open
Letting the winter air in

Don’t want to move
Disturb your rest
So I enjoy the moments

Until I calcify again

To sleep with my arms
Warmed by your touch
Happy to be careless

Annabelle

Five years on
Don’t know where
The cat has gone

We bought the house
And her owner left her
Poor Annabelle kitten

There were plenty other
Street cats and kittens
In our neighborhood

Still we put out kibble
For our defacto pet
Annabelle

At first she stayed close
To the house and would
Greet us from the porch

She ran away from
The feral ones
On our street

Terrified
Abandoned animal
On her own

I haven’t seen
Annabelle
In five years

Somehow I know
She’s no longer
Scared

Doomsday – Journal 12/21/17

Milestones are an important thing to look at when you pass them. After all, you’d have to see how far you’ve come to appreciate where you are. Milepost 100 isn’t as easy as milepost 1, but it means a lot more.

So begins my life, 5 years ago today, when I had what was left of my California friends over to my house and had a doomsday party, to join the superstitious in heralding the apocalypse as ‘predicted’ on 12/21/2012. I guess those numbers had put people into a tizzy. Or the great calendar...

Seasoning

We say night is so
Sweet
Yet where else do we
Miss

Being able to see
Autumn and winter
More?

I will always trade in
City lights
For a single tree
Colored with fire

Better than the black
Nighttime delivers
I love more the
Ash laid to gutters

Dead leaves
More wonderful
Than these
Clockwork streets

Night strikes every day
But the best seasons
Only have half a year
That I can see

Still night infects
November’s time

But I love to see the breeze
Cold as can be but
By the frozen sun
I can see the qu...

Glasses For Masks

I’m a ghoul
And a jewel
I die every night
And revive every day

I’m a ghost
I boast
Of fine
Line-treading

When you
See me in the sun
Is what’s run
From lobotomies

At dusk
High energy
So relaxed
Becomes tensed

So a mask forms
And outfits made
To scorch seedy
Dark chills

When I come alive
Hot still with the thrill
Of wearing a mask
I put on sunglasses

To betray the day
Rising before me
Staying high energy
Line-treading

Between the worlds
Of content and excite

I put on sunglasses
To survive until...

SERE Kit – Journal 12/19/17

Things published in certain ways can influence the way you speak, think, and record your own self as you go about your life. That’s where I think the importance of reading lies, the solitary consumption of words give people ways to decipher each other’s meanings in the words we say. I could say that’s one of the reasons I choose to right a lot of poetry, and why above all else I can count on myself to feel that desire to lineate above all other expression.

Poetry is a condensed form of noveli...

In Bellingham

Way up there in Bellingham
There’s a university
With a massive wall of windows
In the dining hall
That look out over the bay

I sat there with you
On my first time up
To visit
And we had dinner among
All the other students

Like I belonged

I knew it wasn’t going to
Last
For very long

So I sampled everything
And came back to sit with you
I held your hand under our table
Looking out the window at the
Billowing clouds as they crossed
The water

Even though the food was hipsterish
You were amazing
N...

Deneb Mythos #4: Captain Scarlett and her Sojurns 1 – The Three Way Deal

Today isn’t a great day for her crew, but it can get better. Explore some of the lower reaches of the Kxzzyxin Sea during the 4th Era under the flag of a modest trading vessel. Agreements can yet be reached when a shipment is stolen.

See the first step in Scarlett Nazareth’s journeys across what is known of the sea in this first story of her saga.

Trust

Struggle with
Doubts
As they sweep
Through my body
My blood
It seems
Is old itself
And almost can’t
Withstand

Trust

Let down
Backstabbed
Hurt like
Anyone can
Be

But I still
Wish to be
Vulnerable
As trust hurts
Let me be so

Trust to tell
Of stories
That otherwise
Wouldn’t be
Written

Because of
Trust
Not thanks to

Because of
Worry

Paranoia and pain
Loving it all
Like hands
To action
We love them
When they
Hurt
Since we know
It means

They blister
With force

Like when
On a hot day
At recess
We te...

Dead Ringer – Journal 12/15/17

Hopefully, my final final at Pierce College has come to pass. That’s what this last weeks of truancy and lateness to Radio Reality City has been. Particularly yesterday and Tuesday. This week has been a blur, partially because of increased work hours and due to the formerly mentioned finals.

I have this awful habit of letting classes that are really unintuitively structured get to me and make me disinterested. So yesterday, for about 4 hours, I was recovering 35% of my score in one of the two...
