Pat Sawtelle says she began writing in August of 2008 simply to make her mind shut up. After filling two spiral notebooks and with dreams still flowing, she decided she needed a laptop. This story wasn't stopping. A short 5 years later she finished the 15 novels of the Chalice Princess series. With help from an old friend who was running Dark Oak Press, they began the process of preparing the books for publication. After publishing Chalice Moon Pat decided to begin promotion of her series as a Cozy Paranormal defining a new sub-genre.

With a full time job, a family and home, writing continues to provide Pat Sawtelle a distraction to the ups and downs of life. To all of that she added promoting her books and other mischief with the Dark Oak

As the words flow I lose my self in the world of fantasy. Sentences quickly become paragraphs then pages and chapters. In a short five and a half years I wrote 15 books. Years of stress played out in words and I love it!(less)

Spend at least 30 to 60 minutes putting words down on paper, or computer, every day. Some forms of writing will require research or outlines, but don't let that keep you from writing. Let the words come and and don't try to figure out what happens next until you have a basic story (outlined or rough draft). Now you can tackle all the other things required by the type of story you're writing. (less)

I love to read and writing is my obsession. When I'm not sure what will happen next in the story I go read one of my favorite cozy mystery authors, go out with friends or family, and basically ignore the story. My characters hate to be ignored and they will quickly pour thoughts into my brain yelling until I pay attention to them again.

I love the Books By The Bay Mystery series. Interesting characters. Good plots. Even the tidbits from the books the writers in the story are working on. Just wish I could taste some of those foods and chocolates!
