I was born in Japan, raised in central California, and am now lucky enough to live in New York City. I've wanted to write for so long, and decided to celebrate my birthday by finally doing it! Anyone, everyone who wants to, DO IT. Write what you love, what makes you happy, otherwise what's the point? There's nothing like getting a tearful text from an advance copy beta reader asking, "Why?? Why did you do that to her?!" Being a substitute teacher for fifteen years gave me some good ideas for what today's younger readers would enjoy, and I hope you do :o)

We didn't know what we were going to do without them, so we decided I should write a fantasy wish fulfillment for us that would tick all the important boxes, you know, make all our dreams come true, with a perfect first kiss and all that good stuff. And my students had a list of qualities that they wanted the heroine to have, too, like she should look normal, and be smart, and be good at things, so I made her all that stuff, too. And things took off from there. It was only supposed to be one book, but I realized I had more story to tell, so I just kept going, and went on until I told all I had in me, I guess! I hope you like all of it :o)(less)

Hello, pretty girl!!
And yes, I do like third person POV better, because there's so much more freedom *swings arms and jumps about*, and I believe my writing style did change a little? There were so many thing I couldn't write about in first, you know? I couldn't even say that someone thought the person I was writing about was pretty without making her sound vain, which I didn't like at all. I didn't like being so close to her self-awareness all the time, if that makes sense. There were certainly more switches to pull and manipulate in third, but I liked the feeling of dexterity that came from that, and I liked being able to narrate as myself, and not having to worry if I sounded legitimately like the shy, quiet girl who was supposed to be narrating in the UK Crush books.
Great question!(less)

This is the second of Hefner's books I've read, and I'm the first to admit, they're not my usual fare. I'm not a sci-fi fantasy type person, but there's enough romance to keep me engaged. I have not read the other Etherya's Earth books, and, while it ...more

The second book for these characters was as rich and fulfilling as the first. MJ and Heath really go through a lot in a short period of time. I was honored to go through it with them.

Let me begin by saying that I'm definitely not the target audience for this book, as I'm a middle aged old lady who writes very smutty romances, and this was a lovely, sweet, extremely un-smutty high school romance! So, that said, I enjoyed this love ...more

I must first say that I resisted reading this book for a long time for the simple fact that I'm no fan of sci-fi. Just not. Plus, I just can't wrap my brain around time travel, so it was a double whammy for me. Eventually, however, simple curiosity g ...more
