Robert Beck lives in Cornwall with his wife Paula and their three sons. He describes himself as an author, mandolin player and software engineer. The world at large tends to view this list the other way around, and renumerates him accordingly. Robert has two cats whom he has been known to turn to for inspiration, and although they are quite vocal in their response, their input has been found to be rather one-dimensional and often too cat-food related to be considered for inclusion in his novels.

In the future Robert plans to update his biography, so it is more than just the "About the Author" text from The Solstice Blade!

I had a very enjoyable weekend at the Green Man event at Mount Edgcumbe in Torpoint, Cornwall selling and signing copies of The Solstice Blade. Green Man is a two day event with live music, performers and stalls, all presided over by the Green Man himself, created from scratch each year.

The early mizzle (a quintessentially Cornish misty drizzle) cleared to fantastic weather with only a small do...

Absolutely astonishing. I came away from each chapter feeling like I had walked along the ghats of the Ganges of a future India, amongst the ash and diya lamps and litter - I just don’t know how Ian MacDonald does it.

I was bothered about the fact th

A really easy, fun read, great for wiling away a long winter’s night. It’s the story of three teenage brothers as they are caught in a blizzard and pulled into the mystical Otherworld where they meet all sorts of mythical creatures. It..." Read more of this review »
