Robert has been living in a fantasy world for as long as he can remember. It’s entirely possible it all started at an English boarding school in the late 1970s. It’s no secret that those places are hubs of magical activity with strong links to other realities, and that kind of thing can leave a lasting impression on a chap.

His stories really started to develop when his sons came along. During their early years, normality was often interrupted by a band of invisible pirates on a mission to disrupt Christmas. These interludes inevitably began with the arrival of a story on their doorstep, which would trigger a chase around the local countryside looking for clues.
