Horn & Dagger Cover Contest - Update

Thanks to all those that voted for their favorite cover. Alas, there was no winner. All three covers received the same number of votes. As the release date gets closer with a more complete cover design I will open up voting again. By then there will also be more material about the plot and characters which may help in your decision. Stay tuned!

September 2017 Listening List

Another great month of music.

White 1, White 2, Black One by Sunn O))): I listenedto these albums a lot while doing the editing for Horn and Dagger. I couldn't put into words exactly what I likeabout Sunn O)) with its deep growling sustained guitars and haunting background noises but I always find it hypnotic. It conjures up a creepy atmosphere and its glacial groan puts me in a meditative state (alright maybe I did just put it into words but they don't tell the full story). Add the

September 2017 Reading List

I'm continuing on my quest to The Dark Tower. As I was preparing to read, Wolves of the Calla,I remembered that in context of the larger narrative, The Wind Through the Keyhole, actually occurs next in the timeline of the story. With that said I decided to read that first and then move on to Wolves of the Calla,

A Dark Tower Novel: The Wind Through the Keyholeby Stephen King
The Dark Tower 5: Wolves of the Callaby Stephen King

That is the list for this month.

Enjoy!

August 2017 Listening List

Another great month of music.

Mariner by Cult of Luna: Anyone who has readthe DarkTunes page will be familiar with Cult of Luna. Marinerand Julie Christmas' haunting voice was inspirational in my writing of,In the Shadow of the Witch. I went to see the band perform this album in its entirety at Gramercy Theatre last weekin New York and it was awesome. In preparation of this event I refreshed my sonic memory with a few go arounds of the album prior.

August 2017 Reading List

Continuing my quest to read through theThe Dark Tower Seriesby Stephen King. This month I made it 85% of the way through Wizard and Glass (according to my Kindle App.). As soon as I finish that I'll continue onward with Wolves of the Calla. I'm spending more time writing and editing than reading (which is a good thing if I want to finish Horn and Dagger) so it may take me a long time to get through the whole series but I'm enjoying the journey.

July 2017 Reading List

The Dark Tower Seriesby Stephen King has long been one of my favorites. The movie is coming out in August and my feeling is that there is little possibility that it willbe capable of living up to my expectations. The world, concepts and metaphysics ofThe Dark Towerare too large to fit on any screen. I have read all the books as they were released and have re-read a few as well but I had never read them one after the other. With the movie coming out I decided that now was the time to do just

July 2017 Listening List

Another great month of music.

Bird Murder, Izverg, Mechta O Mechte, and everything else by Nemertines.Darkly Beautiful is the only phrase I can think to use to describe Nemertine's music. I often think that if depression, sadness and insanity made sound this would be it. Yet at the same time there is something that transcends all these emotions. Nemertine's ability to bring me to this state is what I appreciate most about their music, while pitching you into the depths of Hell it somehow

June 2017 Listening List

Another great month of music highlighted of course by the June 30th release of Gravebloom by The Acacia Strain.

Coma Witchby The Acacia Strain: In Preparation for the release ofGravebloom,I was revisiting my favorite album from the band to date. For those of you that read the DarkTunes column on the darkrevmedia.com page you are already familiar withComa Witchand the influence it had on the creation of mynovel,In the Shadow of the Witch. The epic song, Observer, is amazing.
