J.M. Robison is a fantasy author who chronicles the events which drive heroes to their knees, turn princesses into war queens, and unhinge history to bring magic back to life. She joined the U.S. Army at 17 (Mom and Dad had to sign giving her permission since she was under-age) and became Military Police, all just so she could learn how to write battle scenes realistically and experience different cultures to add variety to her world building and characters (to date she has visited Italy, Germany, Romania, Bulgaria, Afghanistan, Qatar, and Kuwait.)

These characters hate each other when the book starts, total opposites, but they fall in love and figure out their differences were each other's strengths. I'm especially attracted to characters who hate each other first, and then fall in love later.(less)

The Makings of The Last Wizard Series

Always the question: where did you get the idea to write The Last Wizard?Always the answer: Like a Facebook relationship...it's complicated.I had just finished writing The War Queen (now published by Tirgearr Publishing)and I was chomping at the bit to write another story. Any story. Living in Elko, NV at the time, me and my husband spent an evening in Salt Lake City, UT. 11 p.m. came around and w Read more of this blog post »

My only complaint? I wished they would have hated each other longer. Would have made the romance that much more powerful.

“They don't want a princess. They want a war queen.”
JM Robison, The War Queen

“I am not a writer. I am a historian for another world.”
JM Robison, The War Queen

“Vice is a monster of so frightful mien
As to be hated needs but to be seen;
Yet seen too oft, familiar with her face,
We first endure, then pity, then embrace.”
Alexander Pope

“People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway.

What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway.

Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway.

In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.”
Kent M. Keith
