CC "Nix" Nixdorf was writing in earlier years for television, stage, and clubs -- performing at that time a kind of two-person Cirque de Soleil (on the budget of beans and rice). But it was gloriously creative. Hence, it's forgivable that he burst into tears upon first seeing an early Cirque performance. That was it, that was what the dream had been. Vive la reve.

There's poetry, of course. Nix survived the having to keep a pad beside his bed because he was waking up with poetry in his mouth. He's considering publishing a selection of it this coming year.

A lot of writing disappeared into early years of experimental theater (including short stints at La Mama ETC and Caffé Cino in the East and West Village.

So after I've run to the dead end of the writer's block filthy dark alley and I recognize that that bumping I am feeling is my own nose against the cold brick wall sealing off the alley, I pull out some chalk and starting writing on the wall, carrying on from wherever I left off, or something new even. Writers Block is a self-created disease. It's just procrastination like any other procrastination. It will eventually get boring, and suffering the fear, pain, and self-abnegation of writing will seem slightly more interesting. So WRITE. It is DEFINITELY better than being dead, which you will be soon. Right? Duhhh!(less)
