I was born in Montreal to American parents and raised in Vancouver, where I earned an MA in literature from Simon Fraser University. After several years of blissful wandering (Buenos Aires, New York, London...) I've settled at last in San Francisco with my brilliant husband, Hugo Eccles of Untitled Motorcycles fame. When I'm not earning my share of our exorbitant rent, I write novels, essays, and the occasional birthday limerick, preferably from my desk at the Castro Writers' Coop.

My first novel, Buenos Aires Broken Hearts Club, was published in four languages under a pseudonym and selected as a Kirkus Reviews’ Best Book of 2007. My second novel, Please Proceed to the Nearest Exit, was published in June 2017 by McClelland & Stewart, Pen
