Flanagan's Flight - New Review on Amazon
The following is a new reader's review of Flanagan's Flight posted on Amazon:

"Readers of Bank Street, Peter Cavalier's first Jerry Flanagan novel, will be happy to know that Jerry, Maria and the full cast of family and friends pick up in Flanagan's Flight where we left them at the end of Bank Street. We see them enter the next phase of life as Jerry and Maria try to balance careers, home life and kids. Jerry still needs some seasoning as and adult - witness the business trip midnight ride in a "borrowed" golf cart. He's solid as ever though, and maybe because of that his banking assignments aren't as glamorous or lucrative as those of his free wheeling fee chasing associates during the time of crazy corporate leveraged buyouts - think Drexel-Burnham. He makes his move from regional to national and international level commercial banking and finds himself on the road, over-extended and stressing his home life. He's a good provider, but Maria's career and aspiration take a frustratingly second place as she is forced to manage the home front and kids in Jerry's frequent absences. But as ever, Jerry is emotionally smart and takes on a new more low-key role in the audit department in hopes of making things work out. Maybe to Jerry and our surprise, he hit's his stride as an auditor - a job where he can apply his analytical skills to make sure his bank and associates are doing the right thing. He catches hold of a big deliciously villainous fish and as, amazing at it may sound, author Peter Cavalier is able to turn the tale of a commercial bank audit into about 80 pages of real page turner stuff. There are many stops along the way, Three-Mile Island, beating the Russians at ice hockey in 1980, Black Monday on the stock market, famous World Series games, plane crashes all of which evoke the personal memories of the reader. Cavalier can take you on an emotional roller-coaster ride - what's wrong with that! One caution, there is plenty of spicy stuff, between Jerry and Maria in these pages. Not a bad thing, just be prepared! So what's next for Jerry and Maria as they get ready for middle-age? I hope time will tell."

Flanagan's Flight Reviewed by Readers' Favorite
Just received a five-star rating from Readers' Favorite for my second novel, "Flanagan's Flight":
Reviewed by Trudi LoPreto for Readers' Favorite
"Flanagan’s Flight is a journey back in time through the late 1970s and many of the happenings of the 1980s. Jerry and Maria are the stars of the story: meeting, falling very much in love, and marrying in 1978. The reader becomes embedded in their life story, sharing the ups and downs of their experiences. Jerry takes on a new job for a big international bank and spends much of his time traveling around the country. Maria is left at home caring for her son and later her twin daughters. Maria feels alone, frustrated, and trapped even though both sets of parents are always nearby to help out. On a team of auditors, Jerry discovers a problem when one of the bankers being audited is found to be abusing the system, setting up Swiss bank accounts for deals that he receives funds for which are not really his. Jerry faces obstacles, plane crashes, missing his family on long road trips, and more. Maria wants nothing more than for Jerry to be at home a lot more, spending time with her and his children.
If you lived through the 80s, Flanagan’s Flight is a great walk down memory lane. Even if this is not an era you were a part of, author Peter R Cavalier has highlighted all of the historic events of the period in a very accurate and interesting way. For my part, I could relate to almost all of the story, which made it special and personal. I was immediately drawn into the emotive plot and could feel Maria’s loneliness, but also understand what motivated and kept Jerry working so hard and long. Flanagan’s Flight was well written, historically correct, and had both strong character development and plot. I highly recommend Flanagan’s Flight to one and all, knowing you will not be disappointed."

Flanagan's Flight
I have now finished the manuscript for the sequel to my debut novel, "Bank Street", to be titled, "Flanagan's Flight". It picks up where "Bank Street" left off in 1978 and covers the banking industry during the turbulent decade of the 1980s. The protagonists, Jerry and Maria Flanagan, are newly married, balancing work and grad school, experiencing the angst of buying their first home and starting a family. Some of the seminal events of the decade of the 80s are interspersed among the couple's adventures. Jerry experiences some close calls during his extensive travels on the job. His new audit assignment culminates with him bringing down the curtain on a renegade banker. Many of the original characters from "Bank Street" re-appear, along with a cast of new and colorful individuals who impact Jerry and Maria's lives and careers.
"Flanagan's Flight" is being self-published through BookBaby and is due for distribution in February 2021.

Independent Bookstore Day
Want to thank the wonderful folks at Booktowne on Main Street in beautiful downtown Manasquan, NJ for hosting Indie Bookstore Day and inviting me to participate. It was a gorgeous late summer day (Sunday Aug. 30) so most of the traffic was probably at the beach. Still, it was a fun experience (my first signing) and I look forward to going back once my sequel is published. Special shout out to owner Peter and event planner Maribeth for their gracious hospitality.
