Tall Tales Reading
I'd like to thank Tall Tales Book Shop for hosting my vast horde of poetry groupies.
Rebekah & Co. were organized and cordial, even offering an assortment of cookies in their clean, bright space. They provided a good display space for my books and handled all of the sales for me.
Below are some photos that I spun through a fun image editor. Enjoy.

Science Fiction Poetry Association
I have some stupendous news! The Science Fiction Poetry Association has accepted one of my poems for upcoming publication in
Star*Line
.
It is quite an honor to be noticed by a publication that also nominates for the Pushcart Prize.
About SFPA:
In January 1978, Suzette Haden Elgin founded the Science Fiction Poetry Association, along with its two visible cornerposts: the Rhysling Awards and the association's newsletter, Star*Line. Star*Line has become not only an SFPA forum and networking tool, but a literary magazine for poets of the genre persuasion: imaginative poetry from hard science fiction to high fantasy, from the macabre to straight science, and from rigid formalism to experimental and surrealist works.
I particularly appreciated being noticed by editor Vince Gotera. His considerable accomplishments include:
Vince Gotera is the editor of Star*Line as of issue 40.4. He is a Professor of English at the University of Northern Iowa, where he served as Editor of the North American Review. His poetry collections include Dragonfly, Ghost Wars, Fighting Kite, and the upcoming Pacific Crossing. Recent poems appear in Abyss & Apex, Altered Reality Magazine, Dreams & Nightmares, The Ekphrastic Review, Parody Poetry Journal, Silver Birch Press, Silver Blade, and Spirit's Tincture. He won the 2017 Veterans' Writing Prize from Stone Canoe journal and his art was featured recently on the cover of Killjoy Literary Magazine.
I'll post more when the issue is out.

Snellville Indie Author Day Wrap
I would like to congratulate the splendid staff at the Snellville Public Library for organizing a successful Indie Author Day. I enjoyed it both as a viewer and a presenter, and I would be thrilled to do it again next year.
My fellow authors, Mark McCray and Agatha Noveille, gave interesting talks on their books (see below).
Lisa, my publicist / groupie / brains-of-the-outfit took some excellent photos that I will now compel you to see.

100 Thousand Poets for Change
Waqas Khwaja, an English professor at Agnes Scott College, is hosting this year's 100 Thousand Poets for Change poetry reading. Along with support from the English Department, the event celebrates poetry as an agent of transformation and change.
Dr. Khwaja says:
"Over 1600 events are planned simultaneously all across the world, and the readings are all part of the archive maintained by the 100 Thousand Poets for Change, curated by Michael Rothenberg and Terri Carrion, the founders of the event, who remain its moving spirits and its passionate and committed promoters. If you are in the area, you are cordially invited to participate in the event. The choice is yours. Be part of the audience. Read your own poems. Or share a poem, or poems, you love. There is no restriction of language either. All are welcome."
I am pleased to be one of the readers at this global event. Details below...
Location:
Agnes Scott College
141 East College Avenue, Decatur, GA 30030
Frannie Auditorium - Campbell Hall
Date: Saturday September 29 2018; 11:10 AM to 1:00 PM

Books and Beer #3
Join us for our THIRD Books and Beer event at Summits Wayside Tavern in Snellville, GA.
This is a great opportunity to sell books, connect with an audience, and help raise money for the local food co-op. In our previous two events, we have raised over $200 to help the food pantry, and we had a blast doing it.
Our next event is planned for Saturday January 12 2019 at 7:00PM. The Facebook invitation is here: https://www.facebook.com/events/250941855610182/
We also have some (rough cut) video from our September 2018 event here:

Books and Beer FAQ
Here are some frequently asked questions about the reading event.
Where is it?
Summits Wayside Tavern, in the back room behind the taps.
Address is 3334 Stone Mountain Hwy, Snellville, GA 30078.
When is it?
January 12, 2019 at 7:00pm. We'll go for a couple of hours unless lots of readers show up.
We'll fit everyone in.
Is there a deadline to signup?
No. But the venue is small, and we might have to turn people away.
Who can read?
Writers will read in these groups:
1. Writers who donate books to the raffle read first.
2. Open Mic
How does this event benefit the local food co-op?
Writers should bring two copies (or more) for donation to the raffle.
All proceeds from the raffle benefit the local co-op.
Can I sell copies of my glorious work?
Hell yes! Bring a bunch of copies to sell. Bring a pen and be prepared to autograph copies.
Be prepared to sign the writhing body parts of your new groupies. Be prepared for fame and fortune.
Can I invite others?
Absolutely. Bring friends, family, emotional support peacocks, whoever.
I write songs, not books. Can I participate?
Yes! The venue is small, so don't bring lots of elaborate equipment.
I write non-fiction. Can I participate?
Yes!
I write neo-nazi manifestos that degrade others that don't look or think like me. Can I participate?
No. You're a dick.
What is the schedule of events?
I cordially despise schedules. I have too many in my life already. But, if you insist, here's a vague outline:
7:00 - sign in and buy a beer; meet-and-greet
7:30 - group 1 will start reading
?:?? - raffle drawing for books from group 1 writers
?:?? - open mic

Gwinnett Daily Post Found Us!
‘Books and Beer’ fundraiser set for Saturday night
By Curt Yeomans
The math might seem unconventional but local writer Mickey Kulp hopes adding books and beer will equal big money that will be used to support co-operative ministry efforts in the Snellville area this weekend.
