J.M. Hackman loves thunderstorms, bookstores, and happy endings. She’s never met a reading nook she didn’t like and prefers soul talk to small talk. When she’s not writing, she spends time with her biggest fans--her family.
Her short stories have been published in the anthologies Mythical Doorways, Tales of Ever After, and Encircled. Her YA fantasy series The Firebrand Chronicles (Spark, Flare, & Burn) is published by L2L2 Publishing. She spends her days writing stories, consuming massive quantities of dark chocolate, and looking for portals to other worlds.
You can find her at authorjmhackman@gmail.com, www.facebook.com/jmhackman, www.instagram.com/jm_hackman/ or at http://www.jmhackman.com/.

If I get stuck on a plot point, I'll write out all the different variations of what could happen, and sometimes I'll discuss it with my family, as well.
If it was a true case of writer's block where nothing was happening, I'd go do something I love. Go for a walk, talk to a friend, do some crafting, watch my favorite movie -- anything to get my creative juices flowing again.(less)

Loved the interior thoughts of both characters as they navigate a horrible world/environment and try to fight the attraction between them (Yay for "kissing books!"). All in all, an enjoyable first book in the series-- can't wait to get book 2. ...more

I initially picked up this book when the author said it included "lots of happy werewolves." Lol--I'm so glad I did. A wolf pack is almost like a separate world with its rules and traditions, and the author truly did a great job world building. Also, ...more

I'm thrilled to read more clean shifter stories! AJ Skelly keeps the action going in book 2. I wasn't sure if I'd love these characters as much as Megan & Sam, but oh, I loved Rachael & Kyp (the cinnamon roll). :-) I'm looking forward to the next ins ...more

I enjoyed this story! In addition to the creepy mansion (which almost has a personality of its own), the characters are varied and the author took her time unraveling the mysteries for the reader. Brinnie is a sympathetic heroine, awkward yet brave, ...more

I enjoyed several things about this Beauty & the Beast retelling, especially Belinda's stubbornness to help a beast who didn't want it and the slightly unusual fairy/sorceress. I also liked the references to the heroine's struggle with depression (c ...more

“Even the smallest person can change the course of the future”
J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring

“I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: I’m ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don’t accept his claim to be God. That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic — on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg — or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God, but let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.”
C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity
