Linda G. Hill was born and raised an only child in Southern Ontario, Canada. She credits the time she spent alone when she was growing up, reading books and building worlds and characters of her own to keep her company, as the reason she became a writer.

A stay-at-home mom of three beautiful boys, Linda is a graduate of the Writing Program at St. Lawrence College in Brockville, Ontario. Aside from caring for her family, she enjoys traveling the world, eating trout cooked on the barbecue, and, of course, reading.

For about six months as I drove past the Highway 17 bridge that goes over Montreal Road in Ottawa, I watched the seasons change around a green bike that was chained to a bus stop pole and left abandoned there. It weathered sun and snow--at one point it was almost completely buried--and then it disappeared. My imagination swirled around the possibilities: who left it there? What happened to them? Was their one-way bus trip planned, or did some unfortunate fate befall them? And so Herman Anderson was born. An almost-eighteen-year-old runaway whose plans went awry. The rest is history, as they say.(less)

The Magician's Soul is available now!

The final book in The Great Dagmaru series is available at most retailers, and to celebrate, Books 1 & 2 are on sale!

I began The Magician's Curse as my 2011 NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) project, so this completion has been a very long time coming.

Why?

Mostly because I was hesitant to let the story end and to let the characters go. But now that it's finished, there's a sense of relief mi Read more of this blog post »

Will Ferguson
“The two most important phrases in the human language are "If only" and "Maybe someday". Our past mistakes and our unrequited longings. The things we regret and the things we yearn for. That's what makes us who we are.”
Will Ferguson, Happiness

“Obviously, he needed to kill Bubba, but how? The man was a trained prison guard twice his size. The tax auditors had been easy. Mr. Ethics had slapped them to death with their own attaché cases. And even then, his neighbours had chipped in to help him hide the bodies. "A tax auditor, you say? No problem. Let me get my spade.”

“Many Canadian nationalists harbour the bizarre fear that should we ever reject royalty, we would instantly mutate into Americans, as though the Canadian sense of self is so frail and delicate a bud, that the only thing stopping it from being swallowed whole by the US is an English lady in a funny hat.”

Janet Evanovich
“Did you bring the charms?” Wulf asked Diesel.
Diesel took the charms from his pocket and held them in his palm so Wulf could see.
“They have an excellent selection of baby carriages at Target,” I whispered to Diesel.
“Not now,” Diesel said. “Get a grip.”
“Was I bad? DO I need to get punished? Maybe I need a good paddling.”
Wulf looked like he was thinking about rolling his eyes, and Diesel wrapped an arm around my shoulders and dragged me to him.
“We’ll get to that later,” Diesel said.
“I’d be happy to paddle the wench if you’re too bust.” Hatchet said.
Diesel cut his eyes to him, and Hatchet took a step back.

Stephen King
“If you expect to succeed as a writer, rudeness should be the second-to-least of your concerns. The least of all should be polite society and what it expects. If you intend to write as truthfully as you can, your days as a member of polite society are numbered, anyway.”
Stephen King, On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft
