Born in Boston, MA and raised in Miami, FL, Sara has two masters degrees and plans to never stop getting over educated. She now lives in Lowell, MA and is a librarian at UMass Lowell. She likes the idea of having all the academic regalia she can ever possess and winning with the most degrees in her family. She cries at nearly every movie she sees (ask her about when she cried at a horror movie), but it’s full-on weeping for Disney animated movies. She loves reading nearly every genre but likes to write romance and fantasy books. Her heroines are women who don't want the expected life, rarely worrying about their age, weight, marriageability, or fertility.

Stupid Haiku – March 2019

This month’s haiku is the last from my trip to Los Angeles in the winter of 2017. You can feed the lorikeets a sugar water drink when you’re at the Aquarium of the Pacific.  It was awesome!  They just fly up and land on you.  They won’t go away until the water is gone.

“... a mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge.”
George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones

Seth Grahame-Smith
“There are but two types of men who desire war: those who haven’t the slightest intention of fighting it themselves, and those who haven’t the slightest idea what it is. … Any man who has seen the face of death knows better than to seek him out a second time.”
Seth Grahame-Smith, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

“So long as this country is cursed with slavery, so too will it be cursed with vampires.”
Seth Grahame-Smith, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Jane Smiley
“The body, the mind, and the spirit don't form a pyramid, they form a circle. Each of them runs into the other two. The body isn't below the mind and the spirit; from the point of view it's between them. if you reside too much in the mind, then you get too abstract and cut off from the world. You long for the spiritual life, but you can't get to it, and you fall into despair. The exercise of the senses frees you from abstraction and opens the way to transcendence.”
Jane Smiley, Moo

G.K. Chesterton
“The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all.”
G.K. Chesterton
