Barbara Strickland grew up in Sydney in a multicultural environment. Having Italian parents encouraged a love of travelling. The wonderful cultures inspired, and she found herself using bits and pieces in her contemporary romance series - Unexpected Love. Conscious of what Australia has to offer Sydney and North Queensland also feature throughout the series along with some spicy hot loving.
In her spare time, she is obsessed with Japanese poetry, ballroom dancing and learning languages.

It makes me want to examine closer by creating characters to see and hear from a safer distance. Distance gives perspective. The writing down gives me perspective and I hope in this way my characters give insight into situations we all face.
With blogging and my poetry it is more about commenting on those same things as myself hoping others will comment back so I increase my knowledge.

I often miss the warmth and laughter and family overload that is being Italian. I would bask in all of that and absorb the lilt of the language and the divine aroma of the food.
However in saying that I have quite a few favourite authors and I would enter their world simply because of the incredible men they create lol.(less)

Chilling Corner for July and August 2023 with a spotlight on The Hare and the Tortoise and a box of chocolate.

July flew for me but not in the right way. It reminded me of  Aesop’s fable about the hare and the tortoise. Do you remember this one? The moral of the story is that slow and steady wins the race, or that overconfidence can lead to failure. Outcomes depends on choices, on how one looks at life and the chocolate you choose in that box that is offered to you. Am I mixing metaphors, fables, ideas or
