I stop arguing my imaginary friends and let them write their own story.

Seriously, though, I start writing when the characters talk to me, especially when I listen to their voices and write what they really want to say.

Marie-Joëlle "Jo" Peone finds her true self in a world of lies and deception. She speaks her truth as I never could at the age of fifteen. I think Jo Peone is wiser than me. Certainly, she is a strong, young woman who overcomes every obstacle in her way.(less)

The discovery of stories, language, poetry.

"I write to discover what I know. (Flannery O'Connor) I am always a little surprised by what I write - the good, the bad, the insanity and the sublime.

I recall the words of a former professor whose words have stayed with me since 1999. He said, “You are a fine storyteller with a good heart. Great stories will come.” Dr. Rodney Frey is author of Stories That Make the World: Oral Literature of the Indian Peoples of the Inland Northwest, and director of general education at the University of Idaho.

I include an author's note at the end of JOVE'S LEGACY, a narrative set in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. I offer those words to new writers and published authors. Great stories will come to those willing to walk the landscape of the ancient peoples and listen for guidance and their words whispered in the wilderness of a forgotten world.(less)

Dangerous Love by Ben Okri
“Bad things will happen and good things too. Your life will be full of surprises. Miracles happen only where there has been suffering. So taste your grief to the fullest. Don’t try and press it down. Don’t hide from it. Don’t escape. It is life too. It is truth. But it will pass and time will put a strange honey in the bitterness. That’s the way life goes.”

message 1: by Kim

Kim Morgan As authors what we lack is not creativity, discipline or talent; nurturing faith in your gift is an important aspect of writing.

Set your soul on fire with imagination and hush the negative self-talk. Dance until dawn. Keep writing no matter what.

When you do things from your soul, you feel the flow of joy through you.
