Aquae et Ignis by Assaph Mehr

Picture I am a die-hard fan of the Felix the Fox mysteries by Assaph Mehr. Let's just get that over with, because I'm afraid I tend to gush whenever I talk about them. Mehr combines some of my favourite elements seamlessly- fantasy, history (ROME!), mythology, and weird food (squid on a stick, anyone?).

I actually have several playlists and go to artists. Only Human had a lot of Tool, some nine Inch Nails, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, etc. Its sequel was much darker so more focus on Nine Inch Nails, the Cure, a Perfect Circle, Alice in Chains, and Tool a See J.D.’s answer.

Biron the Bee Who Couldn't by Gregg McBride
"I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

If the cover of this book looks super charming, it's for good reason, because it is. Biron the Bee Who Couldn't is a honey-sweet tale of a little bee who isn't sure he was to d" Read more of this review »

"I heard many good things about License to Quill from someone whose taste I trust (my dearest fan ;-), and being a historical fiction fan the book held a natural interest.

Jacopo della Quercia
“Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales was expected to clock in at anywhere between 100 and 120 chapters. Unfortunately, the dude only managed to finish 24 tales before he suffered an insurmountable and permanent state of writer's block commonly known as death.”
Jacopo della Quercia

Paul Broks
“When we see the brain we realize that we are, at one level, no more than meat; and, on another, no more than fiction.”
Paul Broks

“Cosmology and neuropsychology have absurdity in common. The raw facts are strange beyond imagination.”
Paul Broks

Paul Broks
“From a neuroscience perspective we are all divided and discontinuous. The mental processes underlying our sense of self-- feelings, thoughts, memories-- are scattered through different zones of the brain. There is no special point of convergence. No cockpit of the soul. No soul-pilot. They come together in a work of fiction. A human being is a story-telling machine. The self is a story.”
Paul Broks, Into the Silent Land: Travels in Neuropsychology

Assaph Mehr
“Never practice magic when you're drunk.”
