I had a few friends in high school who were pretty convinced the rapture was imminent and I began to believe it too for a little while. After that, I just kept meeting people who all seemed to want the rapture to happen so eagerly, that I began imagining how it would work if someone tried to fake it. So this idea had been germinating for years, before I finally sat down and began writing how I could envision it happening.(less)

I wasn't familiar with the Worldwide Church of God at all, or at least I did not remember learning about it on a conscious level. I thought I had picked Bishop Armstrong's name randomly. I just looked up more about the church and saw that many of them believed the world would end in 1975. They sound a lot like the TBT. I'll definitely have to go read more about them! Thanks for making the connection.(less)

This is a great story that makes a difficult topic accessible for young children. I was able to explain the refugee crisis to my 5-year-old, and he loved that Kunkush was able to be reunited with his family because enough people cared to help him.
