My brain is a petri dish of ideas and the truth is that I have more ideas than I could ever turn into books. If I get stuck on a scene or plot point it never lasts more than a day or two, and the way I break through it is to write the first thing that comes to mind, even it feels like horrible writing. I tell myself that once I get flowing, the words will come easier, and I can always come back and edit or delete if what I've written doesn't turn out how I'd hoped. :)(less)

The Pressure To Earn Straight A’s Has Officially Arrived In My House

I was compensated by Med-IQ through an educational grant from Otsuka America

All opinions are my own.

I had just picked up Lucas and his friends from the bus stop. He leaned his lanky 13-year-old body as far away from me as he could, his forehead pressed against the window, his long dark hair c

“You don’t have control” she spat. “Iris doesn’t have control. No one does. Control is an illusion. Terrible things happen with no reason at all. Terrible, ugly, fucked-up things like rape and death and loss, and there is no power, no control. There’s just the big, mean universe scraping your insides out and tossing them in the trash and there’s not a goddamn thing you can do about it”
