Conan: Atlas of the Serpent Men

So,

Volume 1 of my first Mars novel (set on the Mars of Edgar Rice Burroughs) has been submitted to ERB Inc.

Since that time I have completed the artwork for my Conan fan short piece - Atlas of the Serpent Men.

The tale is set during Conan's reign as King of Aquilonia. An ailing grandaughter sends him on a mystic journey to find the only thing a dark wizard informs him might save the girl.

But it seems as soon as he sets his eyes on this token of power everyone else wants it too!

Who will wield this thousands-years old artifact from the serpent kingdom? And who will die trying....

The Banshee of the Atacama

I had hoped to get The Banshee of the Atacama published this year, my long-delayed sequel to The Blonde Goddess of Tikka-Tikka. It seems something is always popping up to get in the way of completing the story!

For the next little bit I will be working on a novel I wrote in 2012 - a story set on Barsoom, the Mars of Edgar Rice Burroughs.

I have been asked by ERB Inc. to make some editorial changes - specifically, the story is so long it will now be divided into two volumes.

As soon as this work is complete and I have both volumes back in their capable hands I will leap back on Banshee.

Of course, there is this Conan tale I've started, too....

We lost another great vocalist - Chester Bennington

It is always such a blow to the gut to open a website or turn on a radio or TV and come across news like this, especially when children are involved.

So it was awful when I learned of the passing of Chester Bennington, a vocalist I've very much admired.

Once again my heart goes out to the family - I can only imagine what kind of emotional distress they are suffering at this moment in their loss. I'm sorry for them.

For a parent there can be nothing so horrific as to suffer the loss of a child - and for a child the same can be said of losing a father or a mother.

I'm praying - God, please let these people seek help before it comes to this - the taking of one's own life - a selfish act that robs the loved ones they leave ripped open in the wake of their passing of years they could have spent with one who chose to take his or her own life.

I happen to be very pro-life so am hoping others will see this for the awful loss it is and chose to live. Yes it can be the harder path. But your family and friends will thank you for stepping up to the challenge.

Edgar Rice Burroughs 2017 DUM-DUM Event

The 2017 annual ERB DUM-DUM is approaching. This year will mark my first attendance of an event in which I've long wished to participate. For the Burroughs enthusiast it should be a real treat.

The event takes place Aug 3-5 in Coldwater , Michigan - a town with longstanding ties to Burroughs (it's where he penned portions of Beyond Thirty, a special copy of which is available for those who register for the meetings).

We lost another great musician

Having been a guitar player for years, and been in and out of more bands than I can remember, it always strikes me as profound when a musician passes.

Unknown to me at the moment are the circumstances surrounding the passing of Chris Cornell - I just know he'll be missed and his close friends and family have my deepest sympathy during this time of their loss.
