What's new at Bizarre Tales
Recently I undertook to publish my two Conan tales at FanFiction.net. I was excited to find there an entire theme dedicated to Conan - a nice fit for my stories.
Speaking of these Conan tales I've written, I have pulled Conan and Old Crem from it's former location as a bonus at the end of Atlas of the Serpent Men and released it as it's own, standalone piece of flash-fan-fiction, with it's own cover. Check it out if you get a chance, and please consider leaving ratings and feedback for any stories you like! It's much appreciated.
https://www.fanfiction.net/u/10725515...
Conan and Old Crem has also been released at Smashwords and should be appearing shortly at my other various download sites. Visit ChrisLAdamsBizarreTales to jump to various sites from which my stories may be downloaded.

And thanks for stopping by.

New Poem and Reviews at Bizarre Tales
Just wanted to do a quick update on what's happening at Bizarre Tales.
Banshee is moving along -- not as quickly as I'd like, but it's in the final moments of the tale. Really can't wait to see some reader response on this piece. It's a sprawling (yeah, I'm known for that) yarn of adventure.
I pulled a new poem out of the hat and posted it on the homepage, so be sure to check that out. I really enjoy writing these little pieces.
Finally, I finished up Gil Stack's Sea of Grass recently and posted a review and links on the Recommendations page. These are fascinating yarns set in a fantasy realm based on the outer marge of the Roman Empire. They're quite fascinating reads.

Fantasy Art
A new page was recently added to the Bizarre Tales site. This new page is dedicated to my own art inspired by fantasy, science fiction and horror writers such as Clark Ashton Smith, Robert E. Howard, Edgar Rice Burroughs and H. P. Lovecraft.
These are done in oil, on canvas boards. I am really looking forward to seeing this page grow together with my published library. Right now I'm building up my courage to risk a Tarzan or a Conan piece!
Check back often for new additions of both new stories, and new paintings. Comments are always welcome.

Bizarre Tales Updates
The Banshee of the Atacama
is only a hop, skip and a war away from being finished. This second installment is a much more grandiose effort than was its predecessor. I hope those who have read The Blonde Goddess of Tikka-Tikka will find the characters much more developed, and a more complexly developed plot in this new tale.
Also, the Bizarre Tales website has been updated with a new poem of the Day/Week/Whatever, and a new book collection curio. Check them out!

New pages on Bizarre Tales!
I've updated the Bizarre Tales website with new pages: Recommendations and Book Collection Oddities.
I recently finished Gilbert Stack's excellent Fire Islands, first book in his Legionnaire series--check out my review on the all new Recommendations page:
https://www.chrisladamsbizarretales.c....
In addition, I've added a page where I will begin highlighting interesting pieces from my collection, beginning with a fan-made homebound edition of Avon 214, A. Merritt's Fox Woman and others. It's an interesting piece. The update includes plenty of pictures of this neat volume which the Merritt collector won't want to miss.

100th Anniversary of the movie: Tarzan of the Apes
I had an amazing book store score today - amazingly coincidental, that is. This day in 1918 the first Tarzan movie, Tarzan of the Apes, was released, staring Elmo Lincoln.
That in itself is the stuff of happy thoughts. So imagine my joy when I found Tarzan of the Movies by Gabe Essoe in a local bookstore for $4.
At the time I didn't realize it was the actual anniversary, only discovering this a few hours later which is when I realized the absolute coincidence of my serendipitous find.
Here are a couple snap shots of this very cool hardback Published by The Citadel Press (1968).

To find your own copy (and they're very affordable) check out AbeBooks:

R.I.P. Robert E. Howard (January 22, 1906 – June 11, 1936)
In memory of Robert E. Howard
I wish I could’ve shared a drink with you
And listened as you spoke ‘bout the things you suffered through
We could’ve talked ‘bout your stories—and what you were into
I’d of sat there with ya—that whole night thru’
I’d of loved to heard you rant—and curse and swear and cuss
Go on—get it all out . . . I don’t mind if you fuss
I’d rather catch an earful . . . if you feel you must
Just hang in here with me, partner, we’ve much to discuss
Did you know how highly valued you and your works are?
I know it don’t seem likely, as we sit in this here bar (by the side of th’ road)
But your words . . . they’ll touch folks—folks near and far
You, my friend—where I come from . . . you’re a star
I know those problems you got loom big and ugly and dark
But you should know you’re loved, man . . . you’ve left your mark
Yeah—I know you been thinking of endin’ your own tiny little spark
But I wish you’d stayed with us, and created new hero arcs
Yeah, I’d loved to have held a sword to your throat
In one of those mock fights where you punched, slashed and smote
‘Pull that pistol, buster,’ you might’ve later wrote
But we’ll never know now—at least you did leave a note
All fled, all done, so lift me on the pyre
That’s pretty dark, man . . . that’s pretty, damn dire
The feast is over and the lamps expire
Your body lays so still—but I hate to light that fire…
I wish I could’ve shared a drink with you
And listened as you spoke ‘bout the things you suffered through
We could’ve talked ‘bout your stories—and what you were into
I’d of sat there with ya—that whole night thru’

New Website and misc. updates
The Bizarre Tales site has been upgraded with its own unique URL - https://www.ChrisLAdamsBizarreTales.com/.
I've been busy completing The Banshee of the Atacama and so haven't had much time for blogging or updating the Bizarre Tales site since the release of my Conan fan fiction piece (check it out if you're a Robert E. Howard/Conan fan!). I'm hoping to do better at updating once the Ansen story is complete.
I'm really hoping the Banshee tale is well-received because I have two more tales in planning at this point that will be interesting yarns. In one, our dear Ansen will finally learn the secret of why his parents were expelled from their homeland, and in fourth yarn Ansen will accept a job offer from a certain eccentric fellow in Providence who is in search of a rare book he has heard rumor of. . . very exciting stuff that I can't wait to write!
So, the Conan is done and launched and doing good with over a hundred downloads so far. I'm hoping to get the story into the hands of as many Howard fans as possible, so if you know of any who might be interested, please forward them a link. The story is free - just enjoy!

Bizarre Tales
Weird tales; strange tales; tales with bizarre, unforeseen twists and endings; macabre little tales; encounters and close brushes with mind-warping beings both supernatural and otherworldly.
Should a Weird tales; strange tales; tales with bizarre, unforeseen twists and endings; macabre little tales; encounters and close brushes with mind-warping beings both supernatural and otherworldly.
Should a reader find stories such as these of interest they might enjoy the tales I've made available online. Each is an attempt to construct something unique and enjoyable.
For sure, they will touch on the broader themes we fans of these various genres all love to read and reread; lost cities, magical Jinns, Lovecraftian monsters, the hair raising encounter with something grim, the clash and clang of a sword-fight.
But, also it is the hope of this author that the reader will encounter other things they may or may not have come across before: unexpected twists, memorable characters strange inventions.
Enjoy.
Best,
