Two Weeks Until Bound to Forbidden is Out!

Super excited about this one because I LOVE a second-chance romance! The shared history is so freakin’ hot.

Anna stood in front of me, chin up defiantly.

“What the hell are you doing here?” I asked.

“I’m a paying guest.”

I shook my head. Unbelievable. I was supposed to be working on the basement today. When I’d smelled her, right after getting out of my truck, I’d thought I was mistaken. And I knew I shouldn’t follow her tantalizing scent, but I couldn’t help myself–the wolf had been in control. And I’d followed along like a stupid idiot, thinking there was no way this was actually her.

After all these years, here she was. The woman in the picture.

My mate.

At least, I’d thought she was my mate. But then she’d left, making me doubt everything under the fucking sun.

Ten years had passed, but she looked the same. Beautiful skin, golden eyes. Her black hair was loose around her shoulders.

She wore the towel wrapped around her body like a freaking queen, even though I could smell her nervousness.

No doubt she could smell my anger.

I wondered if she could also smell my repressed lust.

Because as horribly awkward as this was, as pissed as I was, I still wanted her.

“You shouldn’t be here,” I said, my voice low.

“My reservation tells me otherwise.”

“I don’t care about your reservation. You don’t belong in Forbidden. Period.”

She opened her mouth to say something else–some snarky retort, most likely. I bent down, picked up her jeans and t-shirt, and thrust them at her.

She reached out to take them, and the towel fell.

Shrieking, she scrambled to grab the towel, but only ended up flinging it away from her by accident.

Fuck, her body was magnificent. Perfect tits, narrow waist, nice wide hips, perfect for grabbing. I reluctantly flicked my gaze back up to her face. Her cheeks had darkened with a blush and she stared at me with accusation in her gaze.

I snorted and started walking away, then said over my shoulder, “Nothing I haven’t seen before.”

An Old Favorite: Dead Until Dark

[image error]Throughout the 2000s, I was madly in love with vampire fiction. I mostly steered clear of romance at the time and concentrated on urban fantasy or contemporary fantasy. Charlaine Harris’s Sookie Stackhouse books were among my favorites. I would mark the release dates on my calendar and clear my schedule on those days so I could buy the book (in hardcover!) and read all day.

Part of what made Harris’s books work so well, for me, was the mystery. She’s great at penning mysteries, and that shows in these books, primarily through the suspenseful aspects.

Beyond that, the premise is killer. A waitress who can read minds falls in love with a vampire (whose mind she cannot read). Vampires are “out” in society and can drink a blood substitute as easily as they can drink the real thing.

Now, from most accounts (scrolling reviews and ratings on various sites), it seems the series fizzled toward the end. I stopped at book 8 or 9 (had kids and wasn’t able to read as much for a few years). At that point, fairies had been introduced to the series universe and I lost interest. Should I be glad I stopped? Perhaps! But nothing will change my love for the first few books, especially Dead Until Dark, which I have read several times and will probably read again soon.

Have you read this book or the series? Did you read the whole thing, or stop somewhere in the middle? I’d love to hear if your experience was similar to mine.

Movie Review: Mr. Right

[image error]image from Wikipedia.org

Not sure how I missed this one–it came out in 2015. But when I saw the thumbnail with Anna Kendrick’s face, I knew I had to watch it!

First off, I expected a romantic comedy because A) Anna Kendrick and B) the title, Mr. Right. However, this is NOT a romantic comedy. This is a dark comedy with a good dose of romance, but it’s pretty freaking crazysauce romance.

Basically, a hitman who goes after the people who hire him falls in love with a quirky woman who’s spiraling after the end of a relationship. She’s bonkers, but so is he, and their dialogue was hilarious. Their conversations might be what I liked best about the film.

Expect quite a bit of violence, mostly in the way of shooting and hitting. Bad guys hit Martha, the heroine, several times, and that wasn’t easy for me to watch. There’s also a story of violence to an animal (a pet turtle) that even now makes me cringe when I think about it. I really could’ve lived without that little anecdote, and I realize it might bother other animal lovers out there, so I’m mentioning it as something to be wary of.

Do not expect the plot to make a whole lot of sense.

Do expect a good soundtrack, great dialogue, and wacky dance sequences.

What On Earth Am I Doing?

I’m doing all the things, it feels like!

First, OUT NOW on Apple Books, B&N, and Kobo: Fated in Forbidden!

If you buy books from one of these retailers, get your copy NOW. This is not a drill! It will be coming down from those retailers very soon and will then be only on Amazon.

Up next: Rising From the Ashes

As I wrote last week, all profits from this anthology benefit relief efforts for Australia. It is available at all major retailers!

Bound to Change

This anthology features all kinds of shifter goodness! Coming in April to Amazon. It will include Filthy Vandal, a prequel novella in my BRAND SPANKIN’ NEW SERIES, Junkyard Shifters! For more details on the series, go here.

…which leads me to: Filthy Beast, Book 1 of the Junkyard Shifters series

This is a 99-cent pre-order, people! And I do those on my solo-authored books, like…never. Part of the reason, I’ll be totally honest, is that often a first-in-series will later be discounted to help promote a future book in the series. Which, fine, maybe you pay full price for the awesome benefit of getting Book 1 immediately (hell, I pay full price on new releases all the time because I want them NOW). But why not give you the discount out of the gate? The other reason is that I would love to reach some new folks who maybe haven’t given my books a chance yet. So please, help spread the word!

It’s up for pre-order on Apple Books, B&N, Kobo, and Amazon! Soon, it’ll also be on Google Play. ❤ Tap the cover for the universal link.

That’s about it, I think! Keira Blackwood and I will have some new books up for pre-order soonishly. Hmm, I think she’s waiting for me to finish a chapter on one of those…maybe I should get on that?

Ruthless Knight – Out Next Week!

This book was tough at times, but that was mostly because I was writing the bulk of it over my kids’ winter break from school. Kiddos running around + drafting a book = frustration for all! However, there were also many moments (after the kids’ bedtime) that falling into this story was absolute bliss. I can’t wait to share it with you!

Nolan had never considered himself musical, but he played Tamryn’s body like a precious instrument. Each stroke, each gentle press against her flesh, elicited music in her whispers, moans, and gentle cries.

And when she came, shuddering against his hand, he drank in the music of her song.

Claimed in Forbidden is Out Now!

I am happy to announce that you can now get Claimed in Forbidden everywhere! It has been released on Apple Books, B&N, and Kobo, and it is up for preorder on Amazon, to come out next Monday if all goes well!

Here’s what I loved about this book:

writing with Keira (this is a total joy)
the antagonist is super gross and creepy, but also funny
the hero, Declan, is afraid of creepy-crawlies
the heroine, Daphne, has a can-do-it, positive attitude
the love between Declan and Daphne was just so freaking sweet. At times they wanted to yell at each other, and other times they wanted to tear each other’s clothes off

Overall, I had the best time writing this book, and I hope you love it, too!
