Erin Lyon graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in English and then worked in broadcast television for ten years before going to law school. She is now a practicing attorney and blames all of the people in her life for not trying to talk her out of the whole “becoming a lawyer” thing (except for her brother who, to be fair, did say, "Really?").

Erin’s first two novels, I LOVE YOU SUBJECT TO THE FOLLOWING TERMS AND CONDITIONS and UNCONDITIONALLY were published by Forge in 2017 and 2018, respectively. Erin lives in Northern California with her husband of 20 years, her teenage daughter, and a house full of rescue animals.

The characters, however, evolved as I went (almost like I was getting to know them just as Kate did).

And absolutely as to my "bunch of bitches." Bits of conversations and jokes are woven throughout the book. Good thing for me I have such funny friends!(less)

I was in my late 30s when I came up with the brilliant idea to go to law school. I worked full time through it, going to school at night, and doing my best not to fail entirely at being a wife and mother. Most of the time I did fail, but, lucky for me, I had the most supportive of husbands and an amazing mother and mother-in-law who picked up the slack with my daughters during all

“Sometimes, just when you think everything’s gone, you find a way.” Mia racked her mind for an explanation. “Like after a prairie fire. I saw one, years ago, when we were in Nebraska. It seems like the end of the world. The earth is all scorch

I can see why this is a bestseller as it was compelling and beautifully written. While I understand that good literature should make you think, this book made my skin a little too itchy. There were many (many!) complex human situations tackled by the ...more

Admittedly a *very* strange book to be reading right now. Station Eleven is about an apocalyptic pandemic and served as a reminder of how well the world is fairing with our current pandemic. This came highly recommended from my favorite book blogger, ...more

Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel
"The book starts out great - it's very go go go and you panic a little with the first character you meet (also it helped that the book is about a fast spreading virus and we're currently in a coronavirus situation).

It was a bit disconcerting because " Read more of this review »

Unconditionally by Erin Lyon
"Great book.

I loved the first book and loved the second. The characters are so natural and you feel as if you know them. The plot kept you in edge and you never can predict what is going to happen. Can't wait for ones about all the other characters l" Read more of this review »

“Jonathan wants to come here and try to pick me up. Not pick me up like a ride pick me up—like a take me home and screw me pick me up.”

“Yeah—I got your meaning. And?”

“I don’t know.”

“Katie! He’s messing you up!” When Logek gets annoyed, she talks with her hands, and they were waving around a lot right now.

“True story.”

“He thinks he can have it both ways. He doesn’t want the commitment, but he still wants you.”

“Absolutely right. But…”

“But?”

“But if I’m thinking about having meaningless sex tonight—couldn’t it be with him?”

Logek grunted and pulled out her phone and started typing. Curious. Then she turned her screen to me: mean·ing·less [mee-ning-lis] adjective without meaning, significance, purpose, or value; purposeless; insignificant.

Unbelievable. Bitch pulled up the definition.

“Now, doll, which part of that do you think would apply if you went home with Jonathan tonight?”

I scowled at her. She deserved it. Using all that common sense and bullshit.

“I rest my case,” she said, folding her arms across her chest.

“Fine, fine, fine, fine, fine.” Because one “fine” would not have sufficed.”

“Who would you be if you could have anything you wanted, whenever you wanted it? Sure, it seems like a nice idea, but I’d think you couldn’t help but start to view people—at least women—like pets rather than people. No wonder he looked intrigued by me. I’m the equivalent of a talking house cat.”

“I smiled at her as she came closer to study me.

“Damn.”

“Thanks.”

“You kind of look like a zombie.”

“So I’ve been told.”

“A really, really pretty zombie. Like a supermodel zombie. Who was killed by a blow to the face.”

I laughed. “Stop with the compliments.”

She winked and headed back out my door.”
