Jeffrey L. Kohanek grew up in rural Minnesota, where comic books sparked his young imagination and inspired fantasies of heroes with super-powers saving the day. His tastes later evolved to fantasy epics, featuring unlikely heroes overcoming impossible odds to save worlds born from the writer’s imagination.

Now residing in southern California, Jeff uses that imagination to weave tales of engaging characters caught in fantastic plots to inspire young adults and the child within us all.

My idea was to create a world where symbols have inherent meaning not just to people, but to how the world itself functions. Combine that with a controlling theocratic government that brands newborns with runes at birth, designating their path in life, and you have the basis for my story.

Being one of the rare individuals who has no rune, my main character is doomed to a meaningless existence. He is the consummate underdog (I love underdogs), and opts to commit the capital offense obtaining a fake ruin in hopes for a better future for himself. When he finds a symbol that has been erased from everyone's knowledge, it exposes a powerful magic that will surely change the world.(less)

Fate of Wizardoms Inspiration Post #4: Gods and Wizard Lords

Both of my Issalia series are clean and great for anyone who can read at a Harry Potter level. The Wizardoms books are more adult in nature with nudity and innuendo, but no on-page sex.
