But apart from the convenience of not having to travel through time or space to meet her - I think she’s just a truly brilliant comic writer. And besides, two minutes in we’d be laughing so hard that tea would suddenly seem way too formal so we’d just move onto a nice bottle of chilled white. And then after a couple of glasses of that we’d suddenly realize we were totally hungry and we’d probably get an Uber out to Malibu and go to this amazing fish and chips place I know. Then we’d strip down to our swimwear that would spontaneously appear under our cute outfits and run in and out of the waves all evening with the dolphins. I’ve no idea what specifics we’d talk about, but I know that whatever they were-they would be awesome. It really would be a magical day! Wanna come with?(less)

I'm so glad you liked the book. I didn't realize it was snowing in Instanbul right now! It's raining here in LA and we are quite glad of it. I visited Instanbul once when I spent a summer teaching at Antalya college and it was a stunning city. I'm busy working on my next novel which is also about coffee. This time I'm focusing on a woman who's trying to break free from her problematic life by winning the US National Barista competition. I'm halfway through the first draft... I'm also on Facebook if you want to say hi there! Thanks for the question! www.virginiafranken.com (less)

Half Sisters is out TODAY!

Hello literature lovers. My debut suspense novel, Half Sisters, is out TODAY!

This novel was inspired by a guy I used to work with who dated a woman for years and YEARS before deciding that her younger sister was actually the one he was in love with. He eventually split with the older sister and very soon after married the younger one. Things seemed to work out fine for that family, but the simmer Read more of this blog post »

Virginia Franken, Life After Coffee

“For if everyone in the world started their day with the right type of coffee, perhaps we could make it work. Perhaps we, all the tribes of the human species, could finally all just get along, bonded through our mutual love of a perfect moment”

Virginia Franken "Laugh-out-loud funny, startlingly poignantly, and eminently relatable. I loved every minute of LIFE AFTER COFFEE." Kate Hewitt, USA Today best-selling author of the Hartley-by-the Sea series.

"Only a truly talented writer can make you laugh out loud at disasters waiting to happen. Virginia Franken is that writer. Her light touch and her warm and engaging voice make Amy's story a joy to read. LIFE AFTER COFFEE is witty and heartwarming all at once and as addictive as the bean itself." Hope McIntyre, author of How to Seduce a Ghost.

"Hilarious, original and poignant. Virginia Franken's debut is a perfect blend." Barbara Bos, managing editor, Women Writers, Women's Books.
