Alyson McLayne is a mom of twins and an award-winning writer of contemporary, historical and paranormal romance. She’s also a dog lover and cat servant with a serious stash of dark chocolate. After getting her degree in theater at the University of Alberta, she promptly moved to the West Coast of Canada where she worked in film for several years and met her prop master husband.

Alyson has been nominated for several Romance Writers of America contests, including The Golden Heart, The Golden Pen, The Orange Rose, Great Expectations, The Molly’s and The Winter Rose.

Her debut historical romance, Highland Promise, will be published by Sourcebooks in October, 2017. Highland Promise is the first of five books in The Sons of Gregor MacLeod series.

Hi Marga,

Gavin’s and Deirdre’s story is up next. I don’t have a release date pinned down, but most likely sometime next summer. I’m currently writing book 5 which is Kerr’s and Isobel’s story. I’m hoping that it will be out at the end of 2019.

It sounds like you may have missed Darach’s and Caitlin’s story? Their book is called Highland Promise. It’s the first book in the series and explains how the boys came to be fostered with Gregor.

If you’d like more updates on the series, consider signing up for my newsletter—I’ll announce confirmed release dates there and also put up excerpts and giveaways! You can sign up through my website: AlysonMcLayne.com.

Anybody else have trouble eating just one bite of chocolate or (ah hem) even just one bar? Or put off important tasks until that book you’re reading is done or that Netflix series you’re watching is over? Or you clean your house like a maniac when…OK, let’s be honest I never clean like a maniac.

The other side of binge eating that chocolate, of course, is denying yourself any treats. Or having...

Highland Betrayal by Alyson McLayne
"If you like strong female characters, you’ll love Maggie MacDonnell. She’s smart, clever, strong, and independent but has enough room in her heart for love. Her betrothed Laird Callum is a strong Highlander with enough smarts to balance what he is..." Read more of this review »

“Amber—” “Doona Amber me, Lachlan MacKay, just drink your damned whisky and tell me your plan.”
Alyson McLayne, Highland Conquest

“They’d spent half their time together in the evenings arguing and baiting each other, even if their chaperones were unaware of it. It might be as subtle as a raised brow or tiny smirk or a more obvious eye roll. They shared a silent language that could say more between them than a whole night with someone else.”
Alyson McLayne, Highland Conquest

“Lachlan bent forward, hands on his knees, sides heaving. His plaid, which was looped over one shoulder, slipped down. Amber couldn’t stop her gaze from poring over him, taking in every indent of his ribs, the banding of the muscles that attached to his spine. “Amber, stop it,” he said. “I can barely walk as it is.” She jumped guiltily and turned her head. “Surely, I doona know what you mean.”
