I lose myself somewhere in time using: Poldark, Pride and Prejudice or a number of other classics like Jane Eyre and Redeeming Love.

I also cry over nearly everything Nicholas Sparks (because it ends sadly) and Amazing Grace, both the movie and the hymn, because they point to the Ultimate happily ever after.

(The crying could also stem from being lost in Austen one too many times.)

My first suspenseful Christian historical, Starving Hearts, was a finalist for both the prestigious Carol Award and Selah Award. Now that Book II of my Triangular Trade Trilogy, Never Past Hope (working title), will be out September 10, '18, I can’t get Book III, Perseverance, done soon enough.

Good morning, Hosanna!

It's so nice to see you here too!

I've done my very best to keep anything inappropriate out of my book--and all future books I ever write, for that matter. (To me, that material dishonors God.) Therefore, you should be all right.

In addition, I've had solid Christian women--even two pastor's wives--who are very particular about what they put into their minds and those of the children, read SH too. None of them found anything objectionable. In fact, they have written goodreads reviews for SH.

Idea: What if you and your mom, or aunt, or grandmother, or small group leader from church--someone who knows how you've been raised--reads it with you? You know, like one or two chapters ahead to confirm it's all good?

I only say that because of the historical setting/slave trade/descriptions here and there. They are authentic but not gratuitous, and since I'm not sure exactly how old you are (You sound very mature.), that might be helpful. As far as the romance, well, that would be a spoiler alert waiting to happen so a can only say it's clean.

Again, Hosanna, how nice to have you here with me. I look forward to talking with you again soon.

Oh, yes, have you noticed under Janine's Writing that I'm posting prequel to SH flash fiction pieces I've written?

If not, you may like to read them. (Right now, there's only one, but I'll post some more soon.) They are stories about Annette's mother and father when they were young. There's also going to be one about Peter's ancestor--she was a pirate.

Sorry for the long-winded answer. I just wanted you to feel comfortable.

Blessings,
Janine
