I have a degree in physics but spent most of my pre-writing career developing software or working as a manager. Most of what is in my book(s) comes from research I do while writing. When I write, I tend to find things that interest me and then incorporate them. Genetics and antibiotic resistance happened to be 'interesting' to me when I started the book, so those themes ended up in it. Ironically, your point about more 'science than sci-fi' is probably true...and maybe that's the part that should concern people. We're a only a couple of decades away from being able to do incredible things—good and bad—with genetic engineering. Hopefully, we end up doing more good than bad.(less)

There's certainly science in it, but the science isn't the driving theme. When I started writing the book, I wasn't very well organized and didn't have a sense of genre. It just came out as a weird mix of post-apoc technothrller and medical thriller. I struggle to classify it honestly, which is a bit of problem.(less)

Free shortie for a couple more days

It's a nineteen page sci-fi short story and free for a few more days before I publish it on Amazon and price it at the exorbitant rate of $0.99. (sorry, that's the lowest Amazon allows unless price matching to another store and this shortie is only going up on Amazon.) Rebel by Marie Lu
"Ok yes there are issues... but the whole series is worth it just for the short passage at the end. Oh my heart!"
Maybe I'll Pitch Forever by Leroy Satchel Paige
"Such a great autobiography of a player that should be even more known than he is. It's raw, honest and enlightening to those who would like to learn more about not just Paige, but baseball in the early to mid 1900's. A truly priceless telling stra..." Read more of this review »

A 3.5 rounded up to 4.

The first book by him that I've read. I was intrigued enough by the story to keep going but there were parts where it dragged on and on and became a bit of slog. I'll read more of his work in the future (probably early stories),

Julius by Daphne du Maurier
"Well....that was....dark. I love du Maurier's very descriptive writing, it really does shine in this tale. Most, if not all, of the characters are unlikable, but that's the point. Each uses his or her own talents for getting ahead. Does the use of..." Read more of this review »

Enjoyable...would have given it five stars except there's a little too much similarity to current events built into the plot. Lots of readers will like that, but for me it took away from the overall story.
