Vinay Leo R. believes that the quote from Isaac Asimov, “I write for the same reason I breathe, because if I didn’t, I would die.” holds true for him, for he has experienced the therapeutic power that words have. He’s a web developer by profession, but is always focused on his passion. A voracious reader, he is a poet as well as a writer of fiction, and blogs at his space which he calls I Rhyme Without Reason ( His musings on the books he reads are at A Bookworm's Musing (

A poem for the Wednesday Verses prompt Train.

I took a lot of trips when I was a child, so a train brings memories too...

Maybe 3.5★. I liked the idea of the story but it felt a bit flat. Didn't feel very emotional though the ending had a wonderful touch.

I loved the novelty behind the plot and the serial murders, though the Agatha Christie fan kind of expected the deception. Poirot at his pompous best was a pleasure to read. Hastings lovestruck nature also goes to character. All in all, a pretty good ...more

I believe paranormal thrillers succeed only if they can make the reader feel the horror, rather than just show it to them. It depends a lot on the narration, as well as the entity (ghosts, monsters, ghouls, whatever the case maybe).

Can a crime fiction be a light read? At times it can. This was one such instance. I found another book of this series, but thought I ought to start with this one, the first of the series, so I get an idea of the main characters.

I think I've read enough Agatha Christie books that at some places, the line of thought aligns with that of Hercule Poirot, and can guess the next step. That aside, I loved the story. It was engaging from first page to last, and the adversary of Poir ...more
