PRAISE FOR The Chernobyl Privileges

SHORTLISTED for the Rubery Book Award 2019

SHORTLISTED for the Impress Prize for New Writing

RECOMMENDED John Nicolson's Politics Show, talkRADIO

"...a compelling story, well-told..." Rob Edwards, Investigative Journalist

"..a well-wrought and sharply intelligent book." Nicholas Royle, author of novel An English Guide to Birdwatching

The focus shifts between modern Scotland and eighties/nineties Ukraine to weave a narrative that begins slowly but gradually builds into a tense, riveting tale that examines

Decent enough historical crime fiction. Sort of pieced the outcome together a bit too easily but enjoyable as escapism. And learnt a reasonable amount too.

Yeah, just got very immature. Rushed out, quite a few spelling errors in book is always a sign. The plot itself and the technical stuff is good but the relationships are so bloody immature and 2-dimensional and I know the author thinks he’s woke ...more

Some beautiful writing but my goodness the storytelling drags... and the author has a habit of asking too many questions as plot devices like it’s the opening of Middlemarch. Really begins to grate, stylistically.

Structurally there’s a lot wrong

I read the All New... really valuable first 50 pages for working in any area of reframing, then the later pages not so much, although still work it as it's a short book.

A necessary read for everyone in Britain and it’s a shame that people who voted Tory didn’t (wouldn’t) read it prior to the election. It’s a forensic analysis of the purposeful attacks on people with disabilities in the UK as a way to ‘other’ them ...more
