Ethan T. Marston was raised in Illinois, but spent a good chunk of his life in Utah as well—he even returned to Utah to study writing and nutritional science at BYU. While there, he became very involved in the LDS LGBT+ community, he emerged from the depths of the closet, and (to his surprise) he met his wife, Allie. He and Allie are currently raising their baby daughter and trying to decide what the heck to do with their lives somewhere in Montana. Ethan enjoys taking pretty pictures of nature, being social, petting dogs, and writing fiction.

This way I always have milestones that keep me looking ahead and figuring out how I'll get from where I am to the next plot point.

I also have a goal to write every day, even if it's just a little. Sometimes the hardest thing is just to start writing, and once you get going it gets easier. I even write when I don't really feel like it.

Once, my writer's block wouldn't go away even after all the planning and forcing myself to write, and so I backtracked and changed the story. I know some people who even just skip ahead and write a more exciting part of the story first, then come back to the spot they were having trouble with and try again.

Hopefully this helps!(less)

I'm working on the basic plots for each of the novels, which I will then develop in more detail. Without giving too much away, the books will mostly be set in the Andromeda galaxy.(less)

After a heartbreaking beginning (and a few other heartbreaking plot points), The Color Purple just gets better and better. It teaches love, acceptance, redemption, and perseverance. My only regret is that I didn't read it sooner.

This was such an excellent story. It explores motherhood and morality, and its characters are so complex and real and infuriating and loveable and I hate that the story ended.

Excellent YA fantasy! It's like if Avatar: The Last Airbender and Black Panther had a wonderful book baby. I loved it: it has powerful portrayals of women, parallels to social issues, cool African culture, and a super great theological magic system.
“Follow your heart and take a chance that you'll be wrong. Take a chance that maybe you'll fuck it all up and everyone will say you're crazy. What's the worst that can happen? Face that fear and accept it. Because to silence your heart and forget your dreams is to die while living. LIVE. Don't let the world scare you into being something you're not. Get out there and risk the unusual or you'll have to settle for the ordinary. So, no-one else has done it before? There is no road map for you to follow? Then, you be the first! Pave the way for someone else. Find your courage and follow your heart.
Be brave, wild one, be brave.”
