Lolly K Dandeneau I am not going to attempt to describe The Gargoyle, I wouldn't want to taint such a fabulous book! What I will say is that any negative review I have read shocked me because this is the best book I have read in years. It touched me, it seduced me and it even educated me. I am suspended over great heights until he publishes another book. I cannot for the life of me explain what the book is about, because it contains such meaning and it takes a rare gift to fit so much into one story! It weaves stories within stories and it is painful, moving, romantic (and that is a weak word to describe the love contained within it's binding), mystical and he's fit humor and cheek in as well. Andrew Davidson is a gifted orginal, and with the many books that are being published today that leave us all on empty he is a Godsend- well to the book addicts anyway. Read and read again and again and hold on to your copy for dear life, because if someone picks it up, you will NOT see it again!

message 2: by Kathe

Kathe Congratulations, Andrew! I was at what appeared to be a very successful book launch for you last night in Winnipeg. You seem like a very personable man. By the way, you are not weird as you stated. I have your book and am looking forward to reading it. Once again, conrats, so nice to see one of our own with much success.

message 3: by Paul

Paul Andrew, Sorry, don't log in here often. Back in March it was almost impossible to get a copy here in the office from Eric. But I thought it was a great book. Congratulations on the release!

message 4: by Amy

Amy If Gargoyle was your first novel, what's Bloodlines? It appears to have been published in 1999?

Andrew Hi Amy

"Bloodlines" is a novel by an Andrew Davidson, but not me. I've asked for the Goodreads librarian to remove the book from my profile, and I'm waiting for that to happen.

Andrew .... And now "Bloodlines" - not written by me - is gone from my profile.

Lindsey I have a hard time STARTING writing. It seems when I have an objective, I'm OK. I'm wondering if you would challenge me to write something. My tendencies are toward horror and fantasy. If you feel like indulging me, give me a couple of characters or a framework and I'll go from there.I see it as a writing exercise I guess. I know I could do the horror thing better than the men, I just gotta get started.

I know it sounds crazy...but just give me a sentence and I'll write back with more. Geez ... I sound like a lunatic. Oh well, here goes ...

message 8: by Andrew (last edited Aug 31, 2008 11:56PM)

Andrew Hi Lindsey

A previously normal man (or woman) wakes up one morning, and discovers that s/he now suffers from hedonophobia.

Sounds like a horror story to me; how would *you* cope with that in your life?

message 9: by Jason

Andrew Thanks Jason!

message 11: by kristen

kristen I said this in my review, but this is the kind of book I would love to write. I read the entire thing yesterday. It's one of the few books I want to read again, so I could go back & pick up more of the symbolism and see how some of the pieces fit together...
Thank you for this wonderful book!

message 12: by Destiny

Destiny Thank you for the compliment and thank you, thank you for your hard work and time spent on The Gargoyle. It is a beautiful book and one I will read again.

message 25: by Andrew

Andrew Hi Ruth,

I *think* there should be English language copies of the book in India... I know that I've gotten messages from people in India who have read it.

Good luck. I hope you can find it!

thegunnersbabe Hi Andrew,

Thanks for accepting my friend request. I'm reading your book at the moment. I just started reading it a few minutes ago. So far, it has really nice and catching sentences.

Lolly K Dandeneau Any plans to make a movie based on The Gargoyle? It seems the books I really fall for become movies:
Time Traveler's Wife
Memoirs of a Geisha
Vapor (in works)

I don't know... seems it should happen!

Arabella Hi..andrew,thx for the add. :)

Francisco Just a fan and friend saying hello. I hope all is well with you.

message 30: by Andrew

Andrew All is well with me Francisco - thanks for the shout out.

message 31: by George

George Haha--I just realized that the main character from The Gargoyle had no name, or at least none that was ever given. The funny thing is that I finished the book a few days ago, and it just dawned upon me now. For some reason it felt so natural not knowing his name, that it was completely imperceptible to me. Just thought I would share that with you. Hope you had a happy new year! -George

message 32: by Kayla

Kayla Hey, just wondering if you have any up coming projects or any ideas for a new novel?

message 33: by Tiffany

Tiffany Just finished reading The Gargoyle, and I wanted to thank you for writing such a purely wonderful book (I'm afraid my review doesn't even begin to express how much I enjoyed it). Absolutely amazing that this is your first novel. Can't wait to read the next one!

message 34: by Andrew

Andrew Thanks Fiona!

Elizabeth Ortiz Hello and thank you for the add! I finished reading The Gargoyle for the second time today and I am again obsessed with it. I don't think any book has ever effected me as this. I cried after I finished, which summed up how I felt about this entire book. Too filled with emotion to say much else. I love it with my whole heart. I just wanted to thank you for producing a story that will stay with me for the rest of my life. I really cannot wait for whatever you write about next, you have a fan for life.

message 36: by Andrew

Andrew Hi Elizabeth -

That's so kind of you to say... I'm glad it held up for you a second time.

All the best,

Elizabeth Ortiz Hello Again!
You made my day and I think my life by commenting back!
I appreciate you taking the time, it means so very much. Oh and I did not tell you Happy Birthday! How rude of me. I hope you had a wonderful day.
Thanks again.

message 40: by Pheonix

Pheonix Working on anything new?

message 41: by Andrew

Andrew Yep - working every night. But these things take me a lot of time, and I have no idea when the book will be ready for the shelves. It is going well, though...

Margarida Congratulations for writing such a marvellous book. :)

message 43: by Andrew

Andrew Thanks Margarida.

Ann Katrine Kristensen Thank you so much for creating such an amazing book. It changed the way I see myself, and I still think about it almost every day even though I read it back in 2008 when it first came to Denmark. Since then I have picked up another copy of the book in Canada where I have lived for a year as an exchangestudent. It is a wonderful book, and it kept me captivated from the first line to the last. I cried, and laughed, and was angry and happy! Every part of your book touched me deeply. Thank you! I will be in line when your next book hits the stores!!

message 45: by Andrew

Andrew Hi Ann Katrine,

Really kind words. Thank you!

message 46: by Lee

Lee I got your book for my '08 Christmas from my parents. I was only 13 but The Gargoyle has stayed one of my favourite books for these past two years, I just love how you weaved so many different love stories into the central one. It's simply beautiful and breathtaking and I love your writing.

message 47: by Andrew

Andrew Thank you, Lee. I appreciate that.

message 48: by Tyson

Tyson I took your book The Gargoyle out of my local library and read it in a day, maybe two...I absolutely fell in love with the book so much that I just recently got it back out and I have started reading it again. For some reason, I felt the strongest sense of deja vu while I was reading it (especially the parts with Marianne Engel).
Thank you so much for writing this excellent book.

Also, I was wondering if you were working on any more books? I'm just curious because I am anxiously awaiting your next novel! I can't wait!

message 49: by Andrew

Andrew Hi Tonya,

Yes... I'm working on something new, but very slowly. No release date set (or even close) but it'll eventually come.

Yassemin Thanks for the accept.
I love your book so far :)
