I've loved writing since I was a child. It has always been my dream to write a novel and publish, which I've now done with my debut, The War Between. My next goal is to able to live off my writing, so get out there and show your support!
I live in Pretoria, South Africa, in a marvellous estate called Midstream Estate. I live with my husband and two boisterous dogs, and during the day I work for my husband's IT company, doing admin and accounts. Mornings or evenings (sometimes both), you'll find me in my study, promoting my current book, or cooking up ideas for a new one. Currently I'm planning on writing another post-apocalyptic novel, perhaps with a dash of horror. Time will tell!

I believe in bad writing days. It's so important to push through those days though, because writing is like everything else - in order to be any good at it, you need to do it consistently. Don't worry if a certain passage or piece doesn't sound right the first time around. That's what editing is for. Just keep at it and see it through to the end of your first draft. Then you can worry about perfection.(less)

The Fish River Canyon

There are too many words to describe the Fish River Canyon. Massive. Magnificent. Humbling. When we decided to do this hike, I immediately hit good old Google to find out as much info as I could. I found very little info, not just on the hike itself, but also about Namibia in general, and the Ai-Ais resort where we’d be staying before and after our hike. I thought, a...

This could've been such a different book if it had been handled differently. The author is an accomplished writer, no doubt, but the mountains of inner dialogue ruined it for me. I don't like long-winded descriptions or repetition, unless there's a g ...more

Michael Robotham never disappoints. I've been a fan ever since I read 'Bleed for Me.' Easy but smart reading, he always manages to elude me as far as the villain is concerned. I'm still very attached to Joseph O'Loughlin, & very invested in what ...more

Charles Dickens
“The day wore on, and all these bright colours subsided, and assumed a quieter tint, like young hopes softened down by time, or youthful features by degrees resolving into the calm and serenity of age. But they were scarcely less beautiful in their slow decline, than they had been in their prime; for nature gives to every time and season some beauties of its own; and from morning to night, as from the cradle to the grave, is but a succession of changes so gentle and easy, that we can scarcely mark their progress.”
Charles Dickens

Elizabeth Gilbert
“Happiness is the consequence of personal effort. You fight for it, strive for it, insist upon it, and sometimes even travel around the world looking for it. You have to participate relentlessly in the manifestations of your own blessings. And once you have achieved a state of happiness, you must never become lax about maintaining it. You must make a mighty effort to keep swimming upward into that happiness forever, to stay afloat on top of it.”
Elizabeth Gilbert, Eat, Pray, Love

Elizabeth Gilbert
“You need to learn how to select your thoughts just the same way you select your clothes every day. This is a power you can cultivate. If you want to control things in your life so bad, work on the mind. That's the only thing you should be trying to control.”
Elizabeth Gilbert, Eat, Pray, Love

“The writer wants to be understood much more than he wants to be respected or praised or even loved. And that perhaps, is what makes him different from others.”
Leo. C Rosten

Cheryl Strayed
“Alone had always felt like an actual place to me, as if it weren’t a state of being, but rather a room where I could retreat to be who I really was.”
Cheryl Strayed, Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail
