Still not yet convinced Pratchett is my cup of tea, but got to admit, enjoyed this one. A romp in Discworld with a marvelous character: Rincewind, a failed (or is he?) wizard.

Thomas A. Edison
“We often miss opportunity because it's dressed in overalls and looks like work”
Thomas A. Edison

Jim Crace
“There is no remedy for death—or birth—except to hug the spaces in between. Live loud. Live wide. Live tall.”
Jim Crace, Being Dead

Jim Crace
“...crushed between the fears of going forward and the dread of going back.”
Jim Crace, The Pesthouse

James Baldwin
“You think your pain and your heartbreak are unprecedented in the history of the world, but then you read. It was books that taught me that the things that tormented me most were the very things that connected me with all the people who were alive, who had ever been alive.”
James Baldwin

James Baldwin
“Life is tragic simply because the earth turns and the sun inexorably rises and sets, and one day, for each of us, the sun will go down for the last, last time. Perhaps the whole root of our trouble, the human trouble, is that we will sacrifice all the beauty of our lives, will imprison ourselves in totems, taboos, crosses, blood sacrifices, steeples, mosques, races, armies, flags, nations, in order to deny the fact of death, the only fact we have. It seems to me that one ought to rejoice in the fact of death--ought to decide, indeed, to earn one's death by confronting with passion the conundrum of life. One is responsible for life: It is the small beacon in that terrifying darkness from which we come and to which we shall return.”
James Baldwin, The Fire Next Time
