Have you ever read a book and it felt like magic was pressed into its pages? ✨ That’s how I feel about THE DISAPPEARANCES by @ebmwrites ✨ I read this book back in 2017 when it debuted, and I still think about how magical this book was to experience. And I also finally met Emily this past March at my St. Louis tour stop and I just adore her.

Annnnnd I know I’ve been a bit absent here this past week, but I’ve been busy drafting #secretproject21 and I’m currently 68,000 words in! There’s this one scene I’ve been envisioning since February, dangling it like a carrot before my imagination to keep me drafting in the moments I didn’t feel like it, and now I’m *almost* to this scene and I am SO EXCITED to explore it on paper.

Watching the sun set on the front porch while I do some research for #secretproject21 ✨ Fellow writers, where do you like to write? I mainly work in my office, but when the weather is nice, I love to write on my swinging porch bed. ✨ (at Georgia)

I didn’t write much over the weekend, but I’m about to draft a scene in my #secretproject21 that I’ve been thinking about for a while and it’s exciting/terrifying. I’m almost at 40,000 words in this project, which I can’t even believe! It seems like yesterday I was in the middle of Chapter 1. My word count goal for this first draft is 100,000 words but…ha, we’ll see. My books are always waaaaay over that.

What's your advice for writing a book? Do you usually know the beginning? Or do you just start with a scenario and continue off of that? I've had trouble with finding the "right" beginning to my book. (Apparently, I have no problem guessing a hundred diffe

I’m a discovery writer. So typically I’ll know the beginning and the general ending of the story I’m working on. I just don’t know how exactly I’ll get from point A to point B. But as I begin to write, the plot will start coming together.

All that being said, my first chapters always end up changing a bit once I have written the very last chapter. So I feel like, for me, I have to write all the way to the end before I know what really needs to be in the first chapter. So my advice to you is to just begin writing and let your story unfold. :)
