Pamela Harju is the author of The Truth about Tomorrow, which won WriteIntoPrint's Captivating Opening Contest in 2017. She spends her spare time with her dogs and travelling to see rock bands most people have never heard of. She loves tea, big old houses and tattooed men and is happily unmarried to her partner of many years. A native Finn, Pamela lives in the Irish countryside in an old cottage that's always threatening to fall apart. She has a full-size dog agility arena in her back garden.

Writing is a lonely job, done scooped up within four walls, so it's important to get out there and live life. For me, that means travelling to wherever my favourite bands' tours take me, taking my dogs for a walk, letting off steam by running on an agility course with the dogs (the ONLY time I run, unless I'm in a real hurry) or just sitting down with a cup of tea to enjoy a good book, a film, a TV boxset or music.(less)

Perhaps best known for The Middle, Jimmy Eat World has several other good songs. This is my favourite. Unfortunately, it’s another song that has not got an official video, so all you’re getting is an audio version.

This is another track that always makes me think of my mother; it probably makes everyone think of someone they have lost. This is a beautiful song with such heartfelt lyrics. A frien...

This is the gloomiest book in the series, and perhaps that's why, along with The Dark Is Rising itself, this one is my favourite. Looking forward to re-reading the final installment.

In my opinion, although still really good, this book is the weakest link in the sequence.

I wish I had liked this more

I really wanted to enjoy this book. I loved the setting, and the makings of a great story are there, but...
As with so many indie books, the editing and proofreading has been neglected. Please, don't skip this stage before

“It made him sad, realising that their smell was going to be gone for good one day. Even if they kept all their clothes, the scent would vanish eventually and become only a memory, just like everything else about them. Sometimes he thought he couldn’t even remember their voices anymore. There were photos of course, but it wasn’t the same. Although he had not hugged either of his parents in years, the thought of not being able to do so was too painful to bear, especially when he felt like he needed it. Eventually he would forget what it had felt like to be near his mum or what kind of a presence his father had. They were just going to be names, mere mentions in conversation that were glazed over and didn’t mean much to anybody.”
Pamela Harju, The Truth about Tomorrow

“He had not been sleeping well over Christmas. Actually, he hadn’t been doing anything well over Christmas – eating, sleeping, exercising, talking, looking after himself, laughing, crying… No, he hadn’t really been crying despite all the pain he felt. It was just tearing him up inside, quietly. It was like his insides were being ripped up by an angered tiger.”
Pamela Harju, The Truth about Tomorrow

“Gary never stopped being a rock star, not even on his days off. He vanished into the bathroom for a long time to fix his hair and dressed in black skinny jeans accompanied by a red belt with three different chains hanging from it. His t-shirt had diagonal, red and black stripes on it, and his red canvas shoes were as seen on TV. It was hard to say whether Gary had dressed and behaved like a rock star from a young age or if he had assumed his role so well that he couldn’t even give it up in his spare time.”
