So far all of the characters are new, but it's a small town, so I am sure some familiar faces will show up soon. Please say hello to your book club for me! I hope you have a cheery time talking about the book. (less)

Workshop for new writers

Hello friends! One of my favorite things about being a published author is getting to meet aspiring writers and helping them along the path. Being a late-blooming writer myself, I want more than anything to help people get started on their creative dreams--ideally sooner than I did! I have begun teaching a workshop I first developed for the Boston Book Festival titled Now is the Absolute Best Time Read more of this blog post »

this is such a moving, empathetic book. It reminded me of the work of two of my favorite authors, Ann Patchett and J. Courtney Sullivan. Keane has a wonderful way of being truly compassionate to her characters, and allowing them all to be human.

“The waltz held the feeling you get when you finish a well-loved book. It left me longing for something I couldn't name.”
Louise Miller, The City Baker's Guide to Country Living

“Pay attention, follow the directions, use good ingredients, practice technique, share with friends, and voila! Happiness abounds!”
Louise Miller, The Late Bloomers' Club

“Dusk had fallen, and when I stepped outside, I was drawn to the light spilling from the barn, golden and inviting. I poked my head in. Margaret had outdone herself. The long tables were covered in cream linen. Squash-colored tapers stood tall in sparkling silver candelabras. Fat bouquets of sunflowers, goldenrod, and black-eyed Susans stuffed into mason jars were surrounded by tiny pumpkins and crab apples. I looked up to see a thousand white Christmas lights hanging from the rafters. The whole room glowed.”
