Lynn Robertson Hay's writing covers books, TV, film, audio and theatre, including winning a Writers' Guild award.
Her screenplay BRAVE THE DARK stars Jared Harris (CHERNOBYL, THE CROWN etc) and Nicholas Hamilton (IT, and so on) and opened in theaters in January 2025.
Lynn is thrilled to have entered the Whoniverse with two stories for Big Finish, and wrote a very different kind of doctor in TV soap DOCTORS on BBC1.

At first I was thinking of Isaac, or the girl who was captured to be Naaman's servant - but once I started to think of the New Testament it really took off. There are just so many young people Jesus interacted with! I originally intended to write two books, but it's now going to be a series of four - like the number of Gospels. The Young Testament; four different youngsters' take on what it was like to be around Jesus. I may yet go back to some of the Old Testament kids, but this is enough to be going on with!(less)

I do a lot of work, structurally and imaginatively, in my mind before I ever start to write. That means that when I do get to it, I hit the ground running.
Not always possible if the work is commissioned, as they would reasonably expect you to start writing it now! But I still try and do a good deal to engage my imagination first, so I can reach the point where I just *have* to write it.
I also think it helps to stop each day at a place where I have an idea what's going to be next. That, plus re-reading the last page or two, is a launch pad to get me back in.
But thinking is writing. Staring out of a window bouncing "What if..." around is writing. In a way, it's not helpful to see a pause in your writing as a 'block' - whether it's two hours or two years. You're simply still in the thinking phase! (less)

Some lockdown readings for your young bookworms!

Crikey, what happened? Covid who? We're seeing the phrase 'unprecedented times' an unprecedented number of times right now - and yet it isn't hype. The vast majority of us have never lived through times like these.
Keeping ourselves safe and distanced is also a big part of how we can look after others, to stop this vile disease from spreading as much as is possible. Many of us are shielded and at h Read more of this blog post »

"I wanted to take a red pen to the whole book. It read as though it hadn't been edited at all.
Although the subject matter is interesting, there isn't really any new information in it.
It also jumps around a lot which I found strange and there is a lar" Read more of this review »

"Terrible. It's not a biography of Matt Smith. The first half of the book is just on the history of Doctor Who. The second half covers Amy Pond and Matt's first series mainly."

"The rating system for GoodReads is unable to capture my disdain for this book. If you can rate a book at 5/5 (100%), you should also be able to rate a book at 0%.
