Also, I've discovered that there are few resources available to parents such a myself that focus on how to cope, especially later in life. There are many resources available for our loved ones but not for parents of older children, at least in my experience. Therefore, I decided that I wanted to share how I cope in an effort to help other parents going through a similar experience. Also, even though there seems to be few, I have learned of some great, credible and helpful organizations that exist to help parents, and I wanted to share this information in an effort to get the word out that help does exist. My goal, in writing the book, is to let other parents know that they are not alone, to share personal insight, and to share resources and helpful tips. And just as important, I wanted to share with parents that there is hope. Ultimately, the book is about not giving up, loving our loved one's unconditionally and striving for mental health wellness individually and as a family. I think that "lived experience" can be priceless, especially when shared with others. Lastly, I wrote the book hoping that it will provide an avenue for parents to gain fresh insight into a topic that is not talked about usually. Stigma holds many of us back from talking and from seeking help. The book provides a way for parents to get around the stigma since they can purchase it, and read it, anonymously. Hopefully, after parents read the book, and if they are afraid to talk, they will feel more comfortable talking about mental illness and will want to advocate for their loved one as well as themselves. Edible Cookie Dough? Now We’re Talking!

I have a sweet tooth! Do you too?

Ever since I was a child, I’ve had a sweet tooth. And to this day, I like to indulge in a little sugary bliss. And of course who can resist cookie dough? But it can be unhealthy for us because of the risk of salmonella from raw eggs. Not now! My daughter introduced me to edible cookie dough, and it’s delightful. Our favorite edible cookie dough is J...
