Weekend Roundup

Okay so who watched the Superbowl? Wizard turned it on when he got home from racing and I saw some of the half time show. But I was tired and a little achy from…well even I can’t even make this stuff up:

So some of you may have seen on FB where I mentioned that last Tuesday night I was coming down the stairs, missed a step, hit my bad ankle and twisted it. It was a MINOR twist. I limped for a couple days, and then just had to be careful not to pivot on it. It didn’t even bruise and was healing fast. Just a minor twist. I wouldn’t even call it sprained.

Then Saturday morning I’m coming down the stairs and thinking/worrying/stressing about the book (why can’t writing be easy???) and then shifted my thoughts to, Hmm, my ankle’s pretty good now, I bet I can clean the bathrooms…

BOOM The very next step I slipped again. In front of Wizard.

Cue the explosion from Wizard. I mean for about thirty seconds, he lost it, yelling that we were moving to a one story house. As in PACK UP THE HOUSE RIGHT THIS SECOND WE’RE MOVING.

Okay…as soon as I got upset he calmed down instantly. Aside from terminal embarrassment I was okay.

We decided against moving :-)

So Wizard went off to do something with middle son and I decided I should try putting on on shoes (I hadn’t been wearing then to rest my ankle)  I went upstairs and got my shoes, and came down stairs fine. See? All good. I learned my lesson to pay attention to what I’m doing.

So I’m sitting on my chair at my desk, and I bend over to adjust my shoe where it’s tied close to my ankle…THE DESK CHAIR ON ROLLERS SLIDES OUT FROM UNDER ME AND I FALL ON MY ASS.

I swear I can’t make this up. That has never happened. NEVER. I’ve worked at this desk since 2002! I’m sat on the floor, laughing so hard, I had tears. Because…seriously? Who does that? I’m not even particularly uncoordinated. I can balance on one foot in yoga poses, but I can’t sit in a chair and adjust my shoe?

I told Wizard when he came home and held my breath. I wasn’t sure if he’d lose his temper or fall over laughing. He tried, really tried to keep a straight face but within two seconds he was laughing.

I told BLB (Youngest Son) the next day when he stopped by. Same thing, he laughed too. Plus they could both see I was moving around fine.

Feel free to laugh too. I have a few minor sore muscles that kicked in about 2am Sunday morning but by the time you guys read this, I’ll probably feel much better.  However I am wondering: Do they sell seat belts for desk chairs?

Otherwise my weekend was busy juggling some projects,  and I am going right into panic mode on CAGED MAGIC (we all knew it would happens. And I’m pretty sure that has something to do with my suddenly clumsiness).

How was your weekend?

Happy Friday!

Last time I checked, it was Tuesday and now…Whoa it’s Friday! Now I’m behind and quickly posting this :-)

First I wanted to say a huge CONGRATULATIONS to Ashlynn Pearce on the release of her book FUEL!

FUEL

Dreaming of writing is easy, but actually doing it, then publishing and putting it out there for the world to judge is an accomplishment of hard work, determination, a LOT of sleepless nights, and sheer bravery. I’m thrilled for you Ashlynn! I pre-ordered my copy so it’s already on my Kindle and I can’t wait to read it!

Also, Ashlynn is having a FB party today to celebrate. Here’s the link to check it out!

Nothing exciting going on for me this weekend, what about you?

Wednesday Worthy

Yesterday was a good writing day! I need more of those! But the deeper I get drawn into this book (over 300 pages, yay!), the more I miss on blogs and social media. Sorry!

Today’s Wednesday Worthy Candidate is Scott Foley. Okay, truth time, I have no idea who his is, but look at that puppy! That alone makes him worthy in my eyes :-)

Weekend Roundup

I saw this posted on Laura Wright’s personal FB page:

“Writing is easy. All you have to do is sit and stare at a blank piece of paper until drops of blood form on your forehead.”

- Gene Fowler

And that is how my writing weekend went. Lots of metaphoric blood, a few crappy words and a lot of indigestion. But I love my job. Really :-)

Otherwise, I had a great weekend. How about you?

Happy Friday!

It’s the weekend already! For me, it’s going to be a working weekend. In order to pressure myself, I’ve schedule editing and formatting for CAGED MAGIC so now I have to get the book done. Deadlines are important for that reason, and I’m going to try very hard to make it. It must be done by March 1 or earlier.

Linc is not happy with this plan. After all his complaining that I wasn’t writing his story, he’s balking big time because he doesn’t like the way the story is going. I swear there is just no making men happy :-)  I also have Ram and Eli to worry about. Although Eli is very patient, think of a lion stalking his prey…he’s going to spring and I’m trying to hold him back until the next book, PRIMAL MAGIC that will be his story. And Ram keeps insisting he’s fine…um…he’s not. The guy is like a human live wire spewing electrical energy that can kill him. So not fine.

So what are you guys doing this weekend?

Wednesday Worthy

I’m trying to do this:

Rules of writing

But it’s slow going, mostly because I keep taking wrong turns, then having to back up and find where I am again. This is my insane process that eventually will end up being a book :-)

Okay for Wednesday Worthy, first up we have this candidate:

Muscular Bodybuilder Guy Doing Posing With Dumbbells Over Black

Who seems very interested in the long vein running along his biceps.

O: this candidate:

Muscular Shirtless Young Man In Abandoned Warehouse Sitting

Who appears to be pondering if piercing his nipple was really a good idea :-)

So what do you think? Any worthy candidates?

Weekend Roundup

I blame Wizard for working less. He’s a BAD influence. I’m really learning how to do down time now because he’s so relaxed since he’s retired. But yesterday Wizard was going racing, so I thought YES! I can work for a couple hours, go meet Biker Witch for coffee, then come home and work more. It was a great plan. I got right up to 8;15 a.m. with that plan. I was writing, excited that I found a better way to tackle a scene that needed rewriting…

—Then BLB (youngest son) shows up with his new Jeep. He came by just to see what we’re doing. And if his dad was around, they were going to wash and wax the Jeep together, but wizard was gone. BLB was actually happy that his dad was out keeping busy and having fun.

–So instead BLB and I talked for a while.

–Then I felt compelled to make him breakfast. He never asked, but I can’t help myself. It’s the mom gene, I guess.

–Then he had to show me how to pull back the soft top on his Jeep (because it’s soooo cool like that, LOL)

–Then we had to watch Flip or Flop and discuss the tax ramifications of flipping homes. I know, you think I’m kidding because no one can be that boring. Nope. We really had that conversation.

–Then we bored ourselves and started talking about dogs.

–After that BLB went with me to meet Biker Witch for coffee and we all ended up talking for hours. Mostly about BLB’s new Jeep and dogs :-) (A side note: Biker Witch was really there for BLB through his leg ordeal, so she was genuinely thrilled to see how far he’s come since then. She always believed in him. People like that in our lives are true gifts. She doesn’t even realize how much her total faith in him meant–to both him and me.)

–Finally I got home, ready to write! Totally in the zone…Wizard comes home for racing and I lost another twenty minutes of catching each other up on the events of our day.

–By now it’s 3:30 in the afternoon but I was going to WRITE! I knew exactly what I wanted to do with my scene…

–The phone rings. It’s oldest son, CPA boy. So we talk and talk and I’m having a great time, then almost an hour later I hang up.

–Wizard looked up at me and grinned. “Always good to take a day off.”

“Yeah, if this is the worst problem I ever have, I’m good.”

He raised his wine glass (which he’d poured for both of us while I was on the phone with CPA boy.) “Right there with you, witch.”

And despite all that, I actually did make some forward progress on the book.  I can’t figure out how but I’ll take it!

So how was your weekend?

Happy Friday!

Did you all have a good week? Mine’s been good but gone by way too fast. I’m plotting out the rest of CAGED MAGIC and practicing my new resolution to relax and not get so uptight and worried. I’m basically learning a new process of handling stress–we’ll see how it goes :-)

Wednesday, Wizard willingly went to the animal shelter with me, then we both came home depressed. It was so sad to see so many dogs that need homes and care. But we have to make a real decision about commitment and our lifestyle, and we’re still figuring out how much we may or may not travel now that Wizard’s retired. I did learn one thing, it’s probably best to go with a smaller dog. Wizard is not as initially comfortable with bigger dogs as I am. That’s something I’d forgotten since he’s so comfortable about Bailey, Cookie and Corky.  And if we get a dog, he or she will be for both of us, becoming a part of our family.

And for my happy news, the second and final book of The Plus One Chronicles released in Germany yesterday and did very well–breaking into the Amazon bestseller ranks by the end of the day (by the time this blog posts, that could change).

I’m so happy Kat and Sloane have gone international! I’d never have predicted that happening. The first day I released the first book, THE PROPOSITION,  youngest son (BLB) came over and asked me, “How’s the book doing?”

I remember exactly. “Well I just posted it on my Facebook page a couple hours ago and 60 copies have sold on Amazon. I’m thrilled.” We both thought it was really good, but none of us could have predicated the way it took off. And I wasn’t even thinking of international sales then. Actually I didn’t seriously think about it until foreign publishers began contacting me.

I’m hoping that I cab do something similar with  the SAVAGED ILLUSION Series, but there’s no way to really predict what will capture readers, all I can do it try. But it is a story I’m excited about so we shall see. First I have to finish CAGED MAGIC and whatever the publisher will need for EXPOSING THE HEIRESS. One step at a time.

As for the weekend, I think we’re going to see the movie American Sniper and I’ll be working. What are your plans? Whatever they are, I hope you have a great weekend!

Wednesday Worthy

My obsession lately has been… THE DOG WHISPERER. I’ve been watching it on my Kindle Fire any chance I get. And now, I’m bugging the bejeepers out of Wizard to go to the animal shelter so I can practice what I’ve learned.

“Um, is that like practicing witchcraft?” he asked.

I rolled my eyes. “Nope. If I practiced witchcraft, you’d be a toad.”

“Me?” He had the audacity to look shocked. “What did I do?”

“Do I have a French bulldog puppy?”

He tried on an innocent expression. “You were serious about that?”

I glared. “Nice try.”

He laughed in my face. “So is trying to get me to the animal shelter. Practice my ass. You’re tricking me into getting a dog.”

Damn. I went back to watching more episodes of DOG WHISPERER :-)  (And FYI, I’m totally wearing him down! Really! He even said it the other night!)

Now for our Wednesday Worthy Candidate. I’m just jealous of his flat abs, otherwise…eh.

Muscular Young Male Bodybuilder Shirtless Looking Up In The Sky

So what do you think, is he worthy?
