Diavosh has lived in lots of different places (currently Andalucía) and has one of those accents you think you almost recognise but just can't quite place. His favourite animal is the tapir, the reason being abundantly obvious to fellow tapir fans, and is a keen collector of those odd little books you find in adventure movies that ultimately lead to a white-knuckle ride through the mysteries of a long-lost legend.

Unlike the prevailing stereotype, he has no cats.

The Jewel of Nineveh by Diavosh Bassiti
"What a book! I have to say the whole book, from the beginning to the end kept my full attention on all the details. I could literally picture every scene, and that just increased the thrill!
The protagonist is not your typical fairy-tale hero, nor..." Read more of this review »

The Jewel of Nineveh by Diavosh Bassiti
"What a book! It's thrilling and captures you right from the start. The protagonist is rather, peculiar and in the beginning may not seem like one but as you delve deep into the tale, the politics you find yourself taking in sides you probably woul..." Read more of this review »

“He checked for any observers, and finding himself alone he kneeled before the door, putting his eye to the lock to judge its class. The tool-roll came out again and from it this time, a bent piece of wire. The wire mated with the lock and was adroitly gyrated. A click was heard as the work was consummated and the spent wire withdrawn.”
Diavosh Bassiti, The Jewel of Nineveh: A Craft of Shadows Book

“Someday, Locke Lamora,” he said, “someday, you’re going to fuck up so magnificently, so ambitiously, so overwhelmingly that the sky will light up and the moons will spin and the gods themselves will shit comets with glee. And I just hope I’m still around to see it.”
“Oh please,” said Locke. “It’ll never happen.”
Scott Lynch, The Lies of Locke Lamora
