I'd love to meet you too, Greg, and hear about those times.

What's the best thing about being a writer?
I love creating characters, a story, plots and subplots that interest readers - and me. My first novel "Whirlwind: An Agent Frank Marsh Novel" is a good example.

The writing absolutely flowed and I wrote the entire manuscript in less than three months. If was as if the story had been pent up and was just waiting to be released.

About three weeks after I began writing it, something special happened - the characters took over the story. When I would get up mornings I would have a general idea of what I wanted to write next, what the story line would be, the dialogue, the main characters in that part of the story. But several weeks into writing it, I would starting writing at the keyboard the the characters would take over and drive the dialogue and story line into a different direction. And I would follow and write what my characters wanted. Amazing. And a powerful love story is interwoven in the story, thanks to the characters.

Writing it felt "special." And it was special. Even now, when I read parts of "Whirlwind" I become engrossed in the story and can't stop reading it. The sequel "Flashpoint: An Agent Frank Marsh Novel" is good, but "Whirlwind" is special. And always will be for me. And hopefully for readers when it is published.

I didn't write it. Frank, Kathy, Crazy Man, "The Magician," Marwan and Daqduq wrote "Whirlwind."(less)

The Joy of Reading

As a reader, I love to read books that are so good that I slow down reading when nearing the end because I want to make the joy of reading last.

As a writer I try to give readers that same joy - books so good that you slow down as you near the end. I think "Whirlwind: A Frank Marsh Novel" is that kind of book.

I'm almost finished writing "Flashpoint: A Frank Marsh Novel," the sequel to "Whirlwind." Read more of this blog post »
