Deni Hankin was born in Liverpool and emigrated to South Africa with her parents in 1964. She is a single parent of three children and has worked in many fields from advertising and printing to nursery school teaching. She returned to the UK in 2011 and currently lives in Kent.

Deni first entered the world of printing and publishing in 1979 working her way up through the ranks from assistant in the art department to manager of a successful printing company. She has hands-on experience in all aspects of the printing, publishing and advertising trade, including proof-reading and editing.

I am Phoenix is her latest novel and she is currently working on five others.

However, I do still like Mary Poppins as I work with children and a few of the younger ones truly believe that I am her in disguise... a little fantasy is good for you so we won't spoil their fun.(less)
