Melanie Tomlin was born in Beeston, England. At the age of three her family moved to suburban Melbourne, Australia, where she has lived ever since. When she was twelve her parents bought her a typewriter, and she wrote her first novel that very same year. She still has the typewriter, which is somewhat worse for wear, but that first manuscript is now nothing but a distant memory.

Her first published book, Angel's Kiss, was released in 2015. The next four instalments in the 'Angel Series' -- Angel's Curse, Angel's Messiah, Angel's Body and Angel's Demon -- were released over the next three years.

For a change of pace, and something a little different, Melanie also published a book of poetry called Twisted Poems of a Warped Mind and a children'

It's not writer's block as such, but it does mean downtime for whatever story I'm working on.

I keep myself occupied, until my characters grace me with their presence again, by focusing on writing poetry, editing my work or making notes for other stories they might be interested in appearing in.(less)
Melanie Tomlin As a writer, I love being able to create worlds and characters that enable my readers to escape from reality for a time.

Melanie Tomlin Angel's Body is now with the editor, so it's time to make a start on Angel's Demon while I'm waiting. No rest for the wicked, as the saying goes.

Melanie Tomlin Putting some finishing touches on the fourth book in the Angel Series -- Angel's Body -- then it's off to the editor it goes.

Melanie Tomlin Just added the book trailer for Twisted Poems of a Warped Mind to Goodreads. I still think Angel's Messiah is the best book trailer I've made so far ... it's definitely going to be hard to beat!

Melanie Tomlin Lucy Vampoosy (The Little Vampire Dog) has gone for walkies to the editor. Yay for her! I hope she comes back clean and smelling of freshly shampooed dog :-)

Melanie Tomlin A lot of people have been crying when reading my second book--Angel's Curse. Some have mentioned it in reviews, some have messaged me and others have told me in person. They are not alone. I cried while writing the whole scene in question. The number of typos I made because the tears were blurring my vision was staggering ... and then I cried again when proofing it, fixing my typos and taking in editorial changes. There may be more tears ahead in the rest of the series ...

Melanie Tomlin Call me crazy, but I'm undertaking a 1000 books challenge. I was going to post this last Friday, but as it was April Fool's day I didn't think anyone would take me seriously. I'm really interested to see if this will take off or fall flat. Anyway it's worth a share or two, just for a laugh.

1000 Books Challenge

Melanie Tomlin Emailed Angel's Messiah to my editor this morning. Book three in the Angel Series is almost complete. Feeling happy :-)

Melanie Tomlin Look what my local library has on their shelves, sitting next to Anne Rice. What an honour that is!

Melanie Tomlin Here's the opening of a new project I'm working on, which is a spin-off of the Angel Series:

Another hourglass broken. Another wasted life.
Father Time extracted a small dust pan and brush from one of the many pockets of his voluminous robe. He carefully swept up the old wooden frame, broken glass and blackened sand that had scattered across the floor. He didn't want to think about what might happen if he missed even the tiniest grain of the black sand. The hourglass had once been filled with pure sand, warm and golden in colour. Then the blackness had devoured it and the taint was permanent. It contained an infection that would spread if not dealt with swiftly.

Melanie Tomlin Do not dwell on what you cannot change.

Melanie Tomlin My first and only typewriter. I think I single-handedly bought enough white-out to keep them in business! I'm still a shocking typist, though it's easier to correct your typos on a computer.
