Three reasons for my gratitude. High, Low, Grateful
When I set out to write this, I thought it would be really hard to narrow my tremendous gratitude down to three things. It was a good challenge and made me dig a little deeper. I have spent the last couple of days getting my house ready for the holidays, working quietly with classic Christmas movies playing in the background. When you spend the day alone with your thoughts, digging through old family ornaments with the memories swirling, it is a perfect time to reflect.
The first thing I am thankful for is what I call my perfect past. Oh, I am not saying I was perfect or that I had a great time over the years. Quite the opposite, in fact. I call it perfect because of everything I learned about myself through the journey. Sometimes it was fun and easy but often it was hard, sad and a struggle. Probably the most powerful gift I gave myself was to get over the feeling of being a victim. I feel as if I have finally grown up.

I cherish the memories of places I have been and the people I have spent time with and look forward to an exciting future watching my grandbabies grow.
My health is a gift that I am very grateful for. My mother died when she was 43 and my dad died when he was 41. It is strange to think that I am the lucky one now, remembering them in their prime, when so many of my friends are dealing with the trials of aging parents. I lost two very dear friends this year and miss them terribly. I am thankful that my health is well and hope to live many more years. Now that I have finally begun to publish my books, I feel like I am just getting started!
3. My alone time is precious and I am grateful that I so enjoy walking in a forest or by the ocean, quietly watching the sunset or just sitting with a cup of tea.
Often, all day long, my house is quiet and I am alone with my thoughts. When I am not working, I reflect on my loved ones, living and gone and miss them and appreciate them all.
This is a season when we welcome family time. After all the preparations, racing around finding just the right gifts, wrapping them all—and the bedlam of unwrapping them, decorating the house, shopping for the food, fighting traffic, making the big dinner, finally we all get to sit down together.
In my family, we have a tradition at the table called “High, Low, Grateful”. We all take our turn telling about the high and low points of the day, and what we are grateful for at that moment. It is wonderful how the world stops and we focus on each other. It is also awesome what comes out of the mouths of babes.
This holiday season, please take a moment to pause and list your “High, Low, Grateful”, either to yourself or to the loved ones around your Christmas dinner table. There are no rules except you have to be honest. It’s ok to acknowledge the good with the bad. That’s what life is.
So, to paraphrase three things I am grateful for:
My perfect past that has taught me the tough lessons that have made me the strong and happy woman I am today.
My health that allows me to race into my future, embracing all that I want to achieve.
My gentle solitude that allows me to appreciate my family and friends through missing them.
My very best wishes to you for a wonderful holiday.

Vicki O Art Sip ‘n’ Shop
A few weeks before Christmas is the perfect time to gather with friends at a dear friend’s home, grab a glass of wine, a nibble or two and … wander around and shop for gifts … What? All under one roof? Yes, it really happened and it was beautiful!
Vicki is a talented artist and it is always spectacular when she gathers many of her pieces together for a sale. It is almost too much to take in at once! Multi media cacti, flowers, forests, happy dancing boots and flying hearts pour out endearing messages to create a collage of emotions.
Along with the many original works of art that range in all sizes, there were teeny, tiny round rocks that have been painted with love and adorable tree ornaments (or bottle ornaments – great hostess gift!) that are miniature paintings adorned with a little bell or metal heart. Vicki also shares her images on phone cases, tote bags and lovely greeting cards.
Joining us was Charis Lyons, from Blue Shark Diva Designs, a jewelry artist with a depth to her talent as well. An array of beautiful hand-wrought metal bracelets and earrings, touched with crystals, pearls, semi-precious stones and lotus seeds were a fantastic addition to the gifts that were on display.
I was so fortunate to be asked to sell my books there. It was a successful night for me in sales, but what excited me the most was that my friends were going to read my book. It’s hard to promote to your friends and I was overwhelmed at their enthusiasm.
Thank you, Vicki, for inviting me and many thanks to my friends who supported me.
Please visit Vicki and Charis at their websites below.
Cheers to all. xoxoxo

The Calgary Book Launch
This week I had my first Calgary launch party at Self Connection Books. The store has a private event room and the facilities to webcast so I was able to connect with my readers in person and through the web. It was so cool to know I was reading to people across the United States and Canada.
Of course, I made too much food but I had to provide a feast! I printed out excerpts from a couple of feasts from the book and displayed them on the tables along with the food.
And who could forget the purple frosted sparkly cupcakes and the shortbread cookies with the fancy purple “C” from the cover? Ok, I get a little crazy when there is a chance to decorate with icing as my friends and family can attest …
The day was really fun and, as always, it is such a treat for me to share bits and pieces from the book. For my reading, I chose the scene where Princess Amethyst is interpreting the Laws of Light in her Volare Solus ceremony.
As I began, Princess Amethyst took the podium and cleared her throat… I smiled to myself and read on.
The reading began on page 180 and included the first five Laws:
‘know thyself’
‘be a vessel of harmony’
‘live in a state of gratitude’
‘leave the world in a better state’
‘never forget our purpose’
During the Volare Solus, which is a coming of age ceremony, the young adult Crysnix demonstrates his or her maturity by not only reciting all the Laws, but offering a personal interpretation of them.
How would you explain them apply them to your life?
Thanks so much to everyone who joined us in person and through the webcast. I really appreciate your ongoing support.

How Odin Saved the WORLD
This is a happy story about my grandson who may not save the world one day (or maybe he will…) but, when he was born, he pushed my heart into that place of expanded love that only a grandparent can know. He saved my world by filling it with love beyond.
It is the story of passing on goodness. How appropriate that I can pass it on for free through Amazon?

Throughout my publishing journey, there have been many lessons. One of them being that it is very hard to determine a reasonable price for your book once you have gone through all the hoops of actually doing the work and getting it published. I never promoted this book because I couldn’t expect someone to buy it through Blurb or Amazon at the ridiculous price they posted for it.
So, please don’t buy it! Just have a fun look on your tablet, computer or smartphone – and pass the goodness on! :)

Denver Book Launch
Last week, I had a fantastic launch in the Denver Barnes and Noble Bookstore on Colorado Blvd. It was such a positive experience! The people at the store were so welcoming and it was truly a lovely store to work in! They set me up at the front and I was able to welcome customers as they walked in and as they lined up at the cash registers.
There was a coloring event being held at the store as well so, the night before, I drew a line drawing of the cover and handed out copies. They were a great marketing tool and I will keep them for future events.
It was so special to meet my readers and to talk about the book. I had people of all ages buying it and I loved how it appealed to one woman’s husband (who loves fairies!), another woman’s daughter (who is writing a book about fairies) and the wonderful young ladies who are at the age where, they may or may not believe in fairies, but they are certainly ready to believe in themselves!
My family and friends were so supportive. I want to thank them for all the congratulations and good wishes. I came home to a real celebration with a wonderful dinner waiting complete with a “Fairy Forest Cake”!
Thank you, thank you for making my Denver launch so special! I can’t wait to do it all again in Calgary, coming up soon, and all the other launch cities in the next few months.
Come and see me at Self Connections Book Store on Saturday, December 5th from 1 – 4 or log in for the webcast!
More info to follow.
Cheers!

Ten Points From “Gifts of the Crysnix”
Find strength in humility.
The power of forgiveness can set you free.
Live by the Laws of Light to reveal the best version of yourself.
Live your best life by working through your goals and your dreams will be fulfilled.
Can the power of a wish change your life? Greet each day as if it has already happened.
Trust yourself; the universe is waiting to deliver if you just ask.
If thoughts have mass, wishes have power. Quantum physics makes them come true.
Listen to your inner voice. It is trying to make you believe.
Gratitude can save your life.
As I work at the final stages of pulling together my publicity campaign, I am thrilled at the prospect of sharing myself through my book. I have to be careful not to give too much of myself away and spread myself too thin. Like the locket in the story, we can keep a talisman close to our hearts to help us remember to be kind to ourselves.
It can be anything to trigger the reminder. A piece of jewellery, a favourite piece of clothing or even a scented cream. Through the day, it’s a good thing to stop and take a moment to honour our health, our gifts and our lives.
Queen Rose paused and slowly presented her daughter with a finely tooled, heart-shaped locket held on a delicate necklace of shimmering pearls and crystals. Princess Amethyst tenderly opened it to find bits of purple, pink and white crystals sparkling inside.
“This is a piece of yourself so you do not give it all away,” her mother said.

Hello October!
Maple tree, so brilliant. It looks as happy as I do!
Life is so fun these days! I am in the last stages of publishing my novel and I am gearing up for a 6-week pre-Christmas launch! WOO HOO!
My novel, Gifts of the Crysnix, is targeted to girls, aged 8-12, but it has a message for all of us. A world of brand new heroes and villains draws us in and begs us to fight the fears that hold us back from living our best lives.
This darn novel has been collecting dust on my bookshelves in manuscript form and in the cubby holes of my mind for way too long. I had to fight my fears of judgement, rejection, failure and maybe even success in order to finally kick my butt into high gear and publish it.
Awesome!
Well, there is no going back now. I am on the roller coaster and headed downwards. Fast, really fun and a tiny bit out of control as my world hurls around the wild rails!! From the peak, gravity pulls me down, trying to ground me — but NOOOO — around a turn I fly and the centrifugal force pulls out a smile so big, the forces are with me to launch me into my best life and all it was meant to be.
