Live the Literary Life… Tuscan-Style!

Hi Y'all!

My dear friendSuzanne Stavinohais today's guest. Her "Book Club in Tuscany" tour is a once in a lifetime dream! She's here to chat about her love of Tuscany and her next guided trip to the area.

By Suzanne Stavinoha:
Dateline Dallas, summer of 1996. Searching for a way to escape an exceedingly steamy day, my friend and I decided to duck into a movie theater. The film was Stealing Beauty, starring Jeremy Irons and Liv Tyler, and featured several people vacationing in a rented farmhou...

7 Reasons We Love Legal Thrillers

Hi Ya’ll:

I’m coming this week from hometown, Austin, Texas.

One of the most common questions I’m asked is why I chose to write legal thrillers. Short answer is I write what I love to read. Before I began writing in the genre, I asked myself why we love the law and what is so compelling about civil conflict stories and those involving people in trouble with authority.

I’ve narrowed it down to seven main categories, all of which have to do with the very essence of romanticism: emotion and indi...

Betty’s Fried Soft Shell Crabs

Hi Y’all,

I’m coming to you this week from Port Aransas, a favorite writing spot on the Texas Gulf Coast. If you’ve read Dollar Signs, you know that Port A plays a big part in the story, second to Austin.

Merit took a long walk on the beach after breakfast. She’d always loved the bird life along Mustang Island. The waves were full of diving gulls munching on lunch. Cranes and heron walked their long legs along the surf hoping a fisherman would cast off a leftover carcass.

Without giving too...

Bouchercon 2016 – Blood on the Bayou

Hi Y’all,
I survived my first Bouchercon! It was far more intense and overwhelming than I had envisioned. With over 2,000 people in attendance, a record for the conference, it was impossible to execute my plan of attack. With a couple of dinners and lunches, I was able to meet up with a few friends, but mostly, I just went with the flow. Once I let go and interacted with the person who was beside me at a panel, riding the elevator with me, or drinking beside me in the bar, it was great!
