While we must not forget that there is heartache and suffering in the world, there is also great beauty, humanity and, of course, romance and intimacy.”

I've travelled widely through many parts of the world and I have a particular passion for Australia, having lived and worked in both the southern and northern regions of Australia. History, particularly the development of communities and people, and its ramifications for the present-day economic and social life of a nation form a backdrop for my early stories.

My first novel “The Disappearance of Merry” was well-received by readers who enjoyed the combination of romance and mystery. This was continued with second novel “Magenta”. The third book “The Letter” combined the present and the past, of life in the big cities and the Australian Bush. Readers of these books have the pleasure of travelling today’s Australia and discovering, or for some rediscovering, an Australia they had heard of, or remembered.

However it is not only the past, but also the present-day changes and challenges to life and culture that are apparent in my writing. Human behaviour, wherever it occurs, is fascinating.

My fourth book “Murder on the Motu”, a classic “Who dunn’it”, marks a change, with a mysterious death in French Polynesia. However, like my previous stories, it is more than just a detective story as it investigates the personalities of those involved and the exotic setting of the islands of the South Pacific.

Covid changed much in the world. For most, travel ceased - but the world continued. Life 1.0.1 started as a series of quirky weekly social media posts that linked to a website where each post was explained with interesting stories and images. The series was then collected into an eBook and paperback. While not claiming to make the reader wealthier, more beautiful or more successful in life, the insights provide an interesting and valuable base to examine and discuss decisions.

The latest book, Family Matters, deals with unexpected challenges faced by a multi-generational family. While it can be considered a "crime story" it is really more about family relationships. ...more
