Charles E.P. Murphy is from the UK and determined to write things that other people will, presumably, read. He is very sorry he did that violent thing to the character you liked.

(He is not sorry)

Murphy has currently written and co-written four books - two horror, one spy satire, and one sci-fi tinged alternate history - and a number of free stories on his tumblr, http://cepmurphy.tumblr.com. Find him also at https://twitter.com/cepmurphy

After a while, any genre show (Who, Buffy, Stargate etc) set in a 'real world' setting where the genre is all meant to be secret stops working - too much has happened or revealed in the past to make any sense that the world doesn't know alien vampires exist. (One Who book, Who Killed Kennedy - which gets a shoutout - wove real politics with Pertwee and cheekily said Wilson lost the election due to the events of those stories)

So I started to think: okay, what if aliens did keep trying to attack Earth and it gets public and is now a political issue like any other? How does it alter how we see people? What real-world events get altered? Do parties campaign on this? If we made spaceships for combat purposes, what would call the damn things?

And then you're right down the rabbit hole of figuring out how Section 28 fits into a world where aliens bombarded Honduras.........(less)

Codename Spectrum II - out now!

MI6's wettest of wetworkers is back in Operation White Heat:

"Spectrum" is the codename for MI6's sneakiest, most lethal female agents - or was.

Ayesha Khan may be lethal but subtle, she is not. Fuelled by violence, misandric sex, and the latest Charli XCX singles, the newest Spectrum enjoys her license to kill enemies of the state and the odd pedestrian.

But in January 2017, the game has changed.... Read more of this blog post »
