Book Two of The Warding

Caitlin Moore thought finding the Secret Keeper would make all her problems go away.

Not so much.

She can no longer deny the fae blood running through her veins but coming to grips with her new life as a Warder who is immune to the Gifts of other fae is the least of her worries. Kaine and Co. are still stuck in Riverview and she’d love nothing more than to get him out of her life once and for all.

The plan should be easy: find the key, use it to break the banishment spell, and send them on their way across the Veil to stop the mad High King. Only things are never so simple when the fae are involved. To key they need is an ancient sword long thought to be a myth. Even worse? They will need to use it to summon the Morrigan, a powerful goddess, and beg her to break the spell.

Caitlin and Gannon, her teacher and fellow hunter, race to find the sword but she finds herself confronted by new dangers at every turn. She must make the impossible choice between righting the wrongs of her past or fulfilling her promise to see Kaine home—no matter the cost.

First Hunt is live. Get your copy for FREE!

First HuntFinal-FJM_Kindle_1800x2700

First Hunt: A Warding Short Story is live and available for purchase on Kindle, or to read through Kindle Unlimited!

Even better: for the first few days, this short story is available for free. Its the least I can do, to thank all of you who have taken a chance on me and supported Iron. I hope this little snippet of Caitlin’s life helps hold you over until Faster comes out in the fall. (And if you enjoy short stories like these, set in The Warding world, please let me know! I have other side stories floating around in my head that I’d like to put to paper if you’re all interested in seeing more of them.)

Once the free introductory period ends, the price will go up to $0.99. Still a bargain, I’d say!

Now, I had originally intended to release First Hunt tomorrow on the 26th (and believe I mentioned that in my last post) but, well, sometimes KDP and I have a difference of opinion. For some reason it refused to let me set that particular date. No complaints, really, as I would much rather it go up sooner rather than later. It also happens to be a rather special day for me, as this is also my six year wedding anniversary, and my loving husband has by far been my biggest supporter along every step of the publishing journey. (Awwwww!) We’ll just chalk this publication date snafu it up to serendipity.

I’ve babbled enough. Hop on over to Amazon and check out First Hunt. Grab this fun little story while its free (from today April 25th, through Friday April 29th, and be sure to let me know what you thought of it!

First Hunt: A Warding Short Story Cover Reveal!

First HuntFinal-FJM_High_Res_1800x2700

“Caitlin Moore isn’t sure how she wound up possessing the rare fae Gift of the Warding, but her life hasn’t been the same since the night it emerged. Embroiled deep in a desperate quest to return four fae strangers home to dethrone their mad High King and prevent the monsters from harming humans has taken over her life.

She never thought she’d be trading her high heels in for combat boots, but in exchange for letting her new friends use her Gift, she’s leveled a price of her own: learning how to kill the bestial creatures who are feeding on hapless humans and threatening those she loves. Taking to fighting with a zeal that frightens even her trainer, she is finally ready to face the evil that lurks in the shadows of her beloved city.

She is ready for her first hunt.”

First Hunt: A Warding Short Story comes out on April 26th 2016, exclusively on Amazon Kindle!

The wonder and amazing Fiona Jayde has once again knocked it out of the park with this cover! She continues to capture perfectly the images I have in my head, turning them–and Caitlin–into some kick-ass art. I hope you all love it just as much as I do, and are excited to finally learn what, exactly, happened on that night when Gannon first took Cat hunting…

Updates coming soon, promise!

Oh yeah; I had a blog once, didn’t I?

Sorry for the inexcusable length of silence over here. I really have had the best intentions of dusting this ol’ blog off and starting to update it weekly again. I even wrote out a long list of something like 100 topics I could easily babble about. (I love lists.)

However, every spare minute I’ve had has been poured into writing Faster, the sequel to Iron, and an upcoming short story, called First Hunt. Faster is on track for its fall release (whew!), but hopefully First Hunt will help tide you over until then. Right now, that particular story will likely be released as a Kindle exclusive eBook in late April. So stay tuned for details on that!

But; yeah–blogging. I do intend to come back and reboot this blog next month as well. Promise! Many of my posts will have to do with The Warding, writing in general, and the self publishing industry, but there will be a good smattering of randomness about me, my life, my likes, etc. Probably a good deal of geeky stuff, as I am, well, a geeky fan-girl at heart. And, if there is anything you’d like for me to write about, please don’t hesitate to ask!

Talk to y’all soon!

Spring is here and so is another Goodreads Giveaway!

I am thrilled that spring is finally starting to show its face here in New Jersey. Though we had a mild winter compared to the last few, I’m still not a fan of the cold, and I loathe snow with a special passion. It was in the 70’s here yesterday and promises to do so again today, which has me in an excellent mood. And when I’m in an excellent mood, the Muse is in an excellent mood, and we are more productive together, which means Faster gets written faster (tee-hee) and everybody wins.

In honor of Mother Nature thawing out, I thought I’d do a springtime giveaway over on Goodreads. Follow the link below for your chance to win a FREE signed paperback copy of Iron, open to participants in the US and Canada. The giveaway begins today and ends in eleven days–so get on it if you’d like a chance at winning!

Giveaway Finished!

Thank you to everyone who entered my Goodreads Giveaway. I was thrilled to see over 1,000 people were interested in winning a copy of Iron for the holidays!

The winners were spread out nicely over three countries, with one being here in the US and the others being in England and Ireland, respectively. That’s incredibly cool to me, and I hope international readers enjoy Caitlin’s romp through Riverview, New Jersey too.

Goodreads has forwarded the winners’ information over to me and I will be mailing out the signed copies this weekend, along with a few extras. If you were one of the three picked, I hope you enjoy Iron and I would love to hear what you think of it after you read it!

Things to Come

Sorry that I’ve been pretty quiet here on the blog and on social media in general. I’ve been meaning to make more updates but… dang, have I been busy! I’m still having a little trouble balancing this whole full time indie author gig along with my full time day job and other aspects of life in general. I’m getting better at it, bit by bit, but every spare minute I have at a keyboard right now has been spent on furthering book two, which I’m sure matters more to y’all in the long run than my rambling on about this or that.

But, since its quiet today and I have a few minutes before the inevitable holiday madness descends and keeps me crazy busy throughout December, I thought I’d do a little “what’s up” check-in sort of post today…

So, let’s run through this update bullet style (since my  brain works best in lists).

Iron’s Progress

Iron is doing well. Very well. Exceeding my expectations well!

In under two months, it has broken even and started turning a profit. That was my hope for the entire first year, so… Wow.

I am beyond moved at how well it has been doing and with all the lovely feedback I have received from people who have read it. Reading your reviews, getting your emails, seeing you share word of Iron with your friends… Dang, guys; I still tear up every time! Without all of you, this dream of mine wouldn’t be coming true–and I owe you thanks from the very bottom of my heart.

Book Two: Faster

As you may already know, book two of The Warding, currently (and likely permanently) titled Faster, is in the works. I am writing it as fast as I can. As of today, the first draft it is 25% complete, with a new chapter being added every 1-2 weeks.

I have had quite a few people ask me when they can expect Faster to come out, and right now I am aiming for a release date in late summer or early fall of 2016. I wish I could write faster (har har) but, unfortunately, I’m just not a fast writer. I can pump out quite a bit of material on the weekends but my weekdays remain a problem. Quite honestly, I am ashamed of how little work I get done Monday through Friday. (There’s the worst part of that whole balance issue I mentioned earlier. Insert the dramatic sigh of a writer long in suffering here.) Hopefully my schedule will be shaking up a bit in the months to come, freeing up some extra time!

I promise I will get the next book out as fast as I am able. As soon as I have an inkling of the hard release date I will certainly share it here, on my Facebook page, and on Twitter as well.

First Hunt: A Warding Short

I realize another 7-8 months is a long time to wait for your next Caitlin fix and I have a solution: a short story set in The Warding world. Tentatively titled “First Hunt,” this story will fill in a gap from Iron and tell us what, exactly, happened on Caitlin’s first hunt.

I’m pretty excited about sharing this little snippet of Caitlin’s life with you, and I hope it will be a fun little tale. I am aiming to have this story out in early 2016 and, as of now, it will likely be exclusive to Kindle.

Again, as soon as there are more details I will let you know!

Aaaaaaaand that’s about it for now, folks. Hope that answered some of your questions and got you excited for things to come.

In case December does pull me under and I don’t get back to update this blog until after the holiday madness has passed, I hope everyone has a lovely holiday season. If you’re thinking of getting a copy of Iron for someone for the holidays, don’t forget to enter my Goodreads Book Giveaway for a chance to win 1 of 3 signed copies! Giveaway ends 12/10, so enter soon.

Iron featured on Betty Book Freak

Not gonna lie–seeing Iron‘s cover as the lead image on Betty Book Freak today made my morning!

Iron is being featured as their fantasy new release today, and I’m truly honored that they chose my book’s cover to be the main image of the day. (Fiona Jayde Media‘s fantastic cover art gets all the credit, of course. It is gorgeous and I’m still head over heels in love with it.)

Check it out!
